Huawei: Change the Region Manually

On many Huawei phones the region field switches on its own whenever the device connects to a different mobile network. This can happen right after a trip abroad or when a SIM briefly loses signal and reconnects to a foreign carrier. The automatic change can affect app stores, weather data, and date formats without any warning.

Change the Region Setting auf Huawei

The region value on a Huawei phone is not a fixed setting. It is linked to the mobile network your device currently registers with.

When you travel and your SIM connects to a foreign carrier, EMUI reads the network's country code and updates the region automatically. This affects which app store content you see, how dates and numbers are formatted, and which local services some apps offer.

If the automatic detection picks the wrong country, or you simply want a fixed region regardless of the network you are on, you can set it manually.

Where to change it

Go to Open the settingsTap on System & updateTap on Language & inputTap on Language and regionTap on RegionChoose a region.

Once you pick a region manually, EMUI keeps that choice even if you move to another network, until you either change it again or reset the phone. Note that some carrier-specific services and app store listings may still rely on your SIM's actual country, not the region set here.

If content is still showing in the wrong language after this change, check the separate language setting, since region and display language are stored independently on EMUI.

Frequently asked questions

EMUI reads the country code from the mobile network your phone is registered on. If you switched SIMs, roamed abroad, or your carrier rerouted your connection, the value under Region updates automatically to match that network.
