Huawei: Turn Password Vault On or Off

Password Vault is the local credential manager built into EMUI. It stores usernames and passwords you enter on the device and offers to autofill them the next time you log in to the same app or website.

All data stays on the phone itself, nothing is synced to a cloud account by default. That is why the feature depends on the device being protected first: EMUI requires an active screen lock password, PIN, or pattern before Password Vault can be switched on, since that lock code is also used to unlock the vault itself.

To turn it on or off, go to Open the settings ➔ Tap on Security ➔ Tap on Password Vault ➔ Type in your PIN or password and follow the instructions on your screen.

If the option looks greyed out, set up a screen lock first, then return to the same menu. Once enabled, EMUI will prompt you to save new logins automatically and offer stored ones on matching login screens.

Disable Password Vault if you prefer a separate password manager app, or if multiple people share the device and you do not want saved credentials appearing during autofill. Disabling it does not automatically delete already-stored entries, so review saved logins separately if you plan to hand off or reset the phone.
