Set Up Private DNS auf Huawei
Standard DNS queries leave your Huawei phone as unencrypted packets. Every router, ISP, or public hotspot between your device and the DNS server can read which domains you request, even when the site itself uses HTTPS. Private DNS wraps that same lookup in an encrypted channel, so only the resolver you choose sees the query.
On EMUI this option lives under the network settings, separate from the Wi-Fi and mobile data menus. It works system-wide and covers Wi-Fi and cellular connections at once, but only once you enter a proper hostname instead of a plain IP address.
To turn it on, go to Settings ➔ More connections ➔ Private DNS. Enable Configure Private DNS, enter the hostname your DNS provider publishes, then tap Back to save the entry.
When to leave it off
If your carrier or company network already enforces its own DNS security policy, adding a third-party private DNS can conflict with it and break internal domain resolution. Captive portals on hotel or airport Wi-Fi can also fail to load until private DNS is temporarily disabled.
An incorrect or unreachable hostname blocks internet access entirely, so double-check the spelling before leaving the settings screen.
