A Huawei phone that feels slower over time is rarely broken. EMUI keeps apps, services, and cached data active in the background even when you are not using them, and over days this buildup eats into available memory.
A restart clears that cache, stops every running process, and gives the system a clean state when it boots back up. This is also the reason a pending system update or app installation sometimes only completes after a reboot: the installer waits for a restart to replace files that are still in use.
How to restart on EMUI
Tap and hold the power button ➔ Tap on Restart ➔ Confirm with Touch to restart.
The phone shuts down completely and boots again within a few seconds. All apps close, the cache is cleared, and any installation waiting for a reboot resumes automatically.
If the screen is frozen and does not react to a normal restart, a forced restart by holding the power button for several seconds longer is the next step. Reach for a factory reset only if problems return right after every restart, since that points to a deeper software issue rather than a temporary slowdown.
