Enable or Disable the Virtual Safe auf Huawei
The virtual safe on Huawei phones is a built-in encryption feature, separate from your screen lock. It creates a protected storage area for photos, videos, and other files, so they no longer show up in the regular gallery or file manager once moved inside.
This matters because a device screen lock only protects the phone itself. Anyone who unlocks your phone with a PIN, fingerprint, or the shared family device can still browse unprotected files. The safe adds a second password specifically for sensitive content, independent from the phone unlock method.
To turn it on, go to Open the settings ➔ Tap on Security ➔ Tap on Safe ➔ Tap on Enable. You are asked to set a password between 6 and 16 letters or numbers. This password is not linked to your lock screen PIN, so choose one you can recall independently.
Once enabled, you move files into the safe from the gallery or file manager, and they stay encrypted until you unlock the safe with that password. Disabling the safe later removes this encryption layer, so only use that option if you no longer need the extra protection or are moving files to another storage method, such as a password-protected folder or cloud backup with its own encryption.
If you just want to hide files from casual view without encryption, a simple hidden folder is a lighter alternative. The virtual safe is the stronger option when the files themselves need to stay unreadable even if someone gains access to the phone.
