Set the Screen Sleep Timer auf Huawei
The sleep timer decides how many seconds or minutes your Huawei phone waits without touch input before switching the display off and locking the device. A value set too low forces constant re-authentication. A value set too high wastes battery and can expose your screen content longer than needed in public.
You control this from the display settings, not from the lock screen settings themselves. Open Open the settings ➔ Tap on Display & brightness ➔ Tap on Sleep ➔ Choose a time for sleep mode. The available range runs from 15 seconds up to 10 minutes, so pick a duration that matches how you actually use the phone during the day.
Fingerprint or password active
If a fingerprint, PIN, or password is set as your unlock method, every time the screen sleeps you need that credential again. A short sleep timer combined with strict lock security means frequent unlocking. If that becomes annoying, raising the sleep timer is usually a better fix than disabling the lock method entirely.
When this setting is not the right fix
If the screen turns off instantly regardless of the sleep timer value, check for a battery optimization rule or a third-party app forcing the screen off. The sleep timer only governs the standard idle timeout, not app-specific screen behavior during video playback or navigation.
