Enable or Disable TalkBack auf Huawei
TalkBack is the built-in screen reader on Huawei phones running EMUI. Once active, it reads out labels, menu items and notifications aloud, so you can operate the phone without looking at the display.
This is useful for people with limited eyesight or blindness, but it also changes basic touch behavior. A single tap no longer opens an item directly; it selects it and speaks its name, while a double tap confirms the action. If you did not expect this, the phone can feel unresponsive or confusing until TalkBack is switched off again.
Where to find the TalkBack switch
Go to Open the settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility features ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Tap on TalkBack ➔ Activate or deactivate TalkBack.
On this screen you can toggle TalkBack on or off. Some Huawei devices also offer a shortcut, such as pressing both volume keys, so the feature can be turned off quickly even while voice guidance is running.
Leave TalkBack off if you only need occasional voice feedback for specific tasks; several apps offer their own accessibility options instead. Turn it on when you need continuous spoken guidance across the whole system, not just in one app.
