Huawei: Change the Timer Tone in the Clock App

On a Huawei phone, the timer in the Clock app always shows a small bell icon next to the countdown, but many people never open it to pick a different sound. The default timer tone plays until you swap it out from the built-in sound list. Once you choose a new tone, it applies to every timer you start afterward, not just the current one.

Set a Custom Timer Tone auf Huawei

The Huawei Clock app plays a system-defined tone whenever a timer runs out. If the default sound is too quiet or too generic, look for the bell icon that appears next to the countdown while a timer is actively running.

To change it, open the Clock app ➔ tap the bell iconChoose a timer tone. The list shows the sounds available on your device, and tapping an entry plays a short preview before you confirm the choice.

Once saved, EMUI stores the sound as the new default for the timer function. It stays active for every timer you start afterward, even after a restart, until you return to the same menu and pick a different one.

This setting only affects timers. Alarm and notification sounds are configured separately and are not changed by this menu.

If the bell icon is missing, check that the timer has actually started. The icon only shows up once the countdown is running, not while you are still setting the duration.

Frequently asked questions

On most Huawei phones with EMUI, only the sounds listed inside the Choose a timer tone menu are available for timers. Custom audio files are usually reserved for alarms.
