Huawei: Set a Timer in the Clock App

If you need a countdown instead of a fixed alarm time, the Timer function in the Clock app on your Huawei phone does exactly that. It counts down from a time you set and triggers an alert the moment it reaches zero. Getting the exact second right can be fiddly if you are not used to the swipe-based time picker.

Set a Timer in the Clock App auf Huawei

The Timer in the Clock app works differently from a regular alarm. Instead of firing at a fixed clock time, it counts down from a duration you set yourself, in hours, minutes and seconds.

On EMUI you find it right next to the alarm and stopwatch tabs. Open Open the ClockTap on Timer to get to the countdown screen.

Set the exact duration with Set a time by swiping. Swipe up or down on the hour, minute and second columns until the display shows the time you want, then confirm with Tap on start to begin the countdown.

While the timer runs, you can interrupt it at any point with Tap on pause. This freezes the remaining time instead of cancelling it, so you can resume from the same point later.

Once you are done, Tap on reset clears the countdown and returns the screen to zero, ready for a new duration.

Use the alarm instead if you need a notification at a specific clock time rather than after a fixed duration. The timer is better suited for cooking, workouts or any task where only the elapsed duration matters, not the time of day.

Frequently asked questions

No. The Clock app on Huawei phones supports only one active timer at a time. Starting a new countdown with Tap on start replaces the previous one.
