Auto-download MMS: Enable or Disable auf OnePlus
Auto-download MMS controls whether picture and video attachments in text messages load automatically or wait for you to tap them. On OnePlus phones running Android with OxygenOS, this option sits inside the Messages app and applies per SIM card, which matters if you use two lines with different data plans.
Leaving it enabled means every MMS attachment downloads the moment it arrives, using mobile data even if you are not actively checking the message. On a capped plan or while traveling, that can add up fast. Disabling it lets attachments stay pending until you open the message and choose to download them manually.
Where to find the setting
Go to Open the Messages app ➔ Open the menu ➔ Open the Settings ➔ Choose a SIM card (Dual SIM) ➔ Enable or disable Auto-download MMS. If you use a second SIM, repeat the same steps for it, since the toggle is not shared between the two.
Right below the main toggle, you can also set Auto-download MMS when roaming separately. Keeping this one off is worth it even if you allow auto-download at home, since roaming data rates are usually the more expensive part of the equation.
If you notice MMS attachments never arriving even with the setting enabled, check your mobile data connection and carrier MMS settings first, since this toggle only affects behavior once the message reaches your phone.
