OnePlus: Apply Camera Filters in the Camera App

If your photos still look flat despite good lighting, the built-in camera filters on your OnePlus phone can add a distinct look before you even hit the shutter. The filter selection sits inside the Camera app but is easy to miss if you have not tapped into the filter menu before. Color, black and white and several stylized looks are all available without leaving the viewfinder.

Apply Camera Filters auf OnePlus

OnePlus phones store camera filters directly inside the Camera app, not in the general system settings. If your photos look plain even in good light, the filter picker is the fastest way to change the mood of a shot before you press the shutter.

To reach it, open Camera app ➔ tap on Camera filter ➔ swipe left or right to browse the camera filter ➔ choose a camera filter. The preview updates live in the viewfinder, so you see the result before capturing anything.

Filters here work on both photo and video mode, but the exact filter strip can look different depending on which mode you are shooting in. Some filters focus on color grading, others switch the whole frame to black and white or add a stylized tint.

Applying a filter before shooting bakes the look into the file. If you want more control afterward, shoot without a filter and edit later in the gallery editor instead, since filters applied at capture time cannot be fully removed from JPEGs.

If the filter icon is missing from the viewfinder, check that you are in a camera mode that supports filters, since modes like Pro or Panorama hide the filter option.

Frequently asked questions

Filters baked in at capture cannot be fully undone on JPEG files. Shoot without a filter if you want to decide the look later in the gallery editor.
