OnePlus: Change the Device Name

If your OnePlus phone shows up with an unclear or generic label when you connect to Bluetooth speakers, a car system or your home Wi-Fi, that name comes from the device name setting. It has nothing to do with your phone number, email or OnePlus account, and other users on the same network can see it too. Swapping it for something you actually recognize makes pairing and file sharing far less confusing.

Change Device Name auf OnePlus

The device name is the label your OnePlus phone broadcasts when it connects to Bluetooth accessories, shares files, or joins a Wi-Fi network. By default it often shows a generic model name, which makes it hard to tell your phone apart from others in a shared household or office.

This setting only changes how your phone identifies itself to other devices and networks. It does not affect your Google account, your phone number, or any app login.

To change it, open Open the SettingsTap on About phoneTap on Device nameEnter a name and tap OK. The new name applies immediately to future Bluetooth pairings and network connections.

Devices you already paired keep the old name in their memory until you remove and re-pair them. If you mainly want a cleaner name for AirDrop-style file sharing or smart home setup, this is the only place to change it on a OnePlus phone.
