OnePlus: Turn Off Notifications for One App

One chatty app keeps buzzing your OnePlus phone while every other app stays quiet, and muting the whole device feels like overkill. This usually comes down to a per-app notification toggle that also controls sound and vibration for that specific app. Turning it off does not affect any other installed app.

Enable or Disable Notifications for a Single App auf OnePlus

Not every app deserves a notification. Some send updates worth seeing right away, others just interrupt with alerts nobody asked for. OxygenOS lets you control this on a per-app basis instead of forcing an all-or-nothing choice for the whole phone.

The setting sits inside the app management area of the system settings. Each installed app has its own notification switch, and turning it off also silences sound and vibration tied to that app. No other app is affected.

To find it, go to Open the SettingsTap on Apps & notificationsTap on See all appsChoose an appTap on NotificationsEnable or disable Show notifications.

Disabling notifications here does not uninstall the app or stop it from running in the background. It only blocks the visual, sound, and vibration alerts tied to that app. If background data usage or battery drain is the actual concern, app-level battery or data settings solve that better than the notification toggle.

If you only want to silence one type of alert from an app, such as promotional messages, check whether that app offers separate notification categories before switching everything off completely.

Frequently asked questions

No. The Show notifications switch only blocks alerts, sound, and vibration. The app can still run and sync data in the background unless you restrict that separately.
