Allow or Deny System Settings Permission auf OnePlus
Apps that offer to change your wallpaper, ringtone, brightness, or similar settings usually need a special permission called Modify system settings. Without it, the app can only suggest a change and has to send you to the settings app yourself.
This permission is separate from security-related controls. Turning it off or on for an app does not weaken or strengthen your screen lock, biometric login, or other protection features on the OnePlus phone. It only decides whether an app is allowed to adjust cosmetic and convenience settings directly.
To review or change this for a specific app, go to Open the Settings ➔ Tap on Apps & notifications ➔ Tap on Special app access ➔ Tap on Modify system settings ➔ Choose an app ➔ Enable or disable Allow modifying system settings.
Deny the permission if an app keeps changing your wallpaper, sound profile, or display settings without asking, or if you simply do not want that app touching system-level options. Allow it for apps you trust, such as launchers, theme tools, or automation apps that rely on this access to work as intended.
If an app you are looking for does not appear in the list, it likely has not requested the permission yet. Open the app once and trigger the setting change it wants to make, then check the list again.
