OnePlus: Remove a Keyboard Language from Gboard

If your OnePlus keyboard shows too many languages and switching between them gets confusing, you can drop the ones you no longer type in. Extra layouts pile up in Gboard's language list over time and clutter the keyboard switcher, making it harder to find the language you actually use.

Remove a Keyboard Language auf OnePlus

Gboard keeps every keyboard language you have ever added, even the ones you only tried once. Each extra layout shows up in the language switcher on your OnePlus, and scrolling through five or six entries just to find the one you actually type in gets tedious fast.

The layouts are stored inside Gboard's own settings, not in the general system language list, so removing one does not touch your device language or any app language settings. You only clean up the input method options.

To remove a keyboard language: Open the SettingsTap on SystemTap on Languages & inputTap on Virtual keyboardTap on GboardTap on LanguagesTap on EditChoose one or more keyboard languages/layoutsTap on Delete.

You can select several languages at once in edit mode before tapping delete, which saves time if you added multiple layouts during setup. If you accidentally remove the last remaining keyboard language, Gboard automatically falls back to a default layout so you are never left without a working keyboard.

If you only want to stop a language from appearing temporarily instead of deleting it, disabling it on the same Languages screen is the better option since it keeps the layout ready for later use.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, Gboard clears the learned words and suggestions tied to that language once you delete it. Re-adding the same language later starts the dictionary fresh.
