OnePlus: Restrict Notification Sounds and Visuals in Do Not Disturb

When Do Not Disturb is active on your OnePlus phone, some notifications still light up the screen or buzz next to you. That happens because Restrict notifications defaults to letting partial alerts through instead of blocking them fully. You can set exactly how much a notification is allowed to interrupt you while the mode runs.

Restrict Notifications in Do Not Disturb Mode auf OnePlus

Do Not Disturb on OnePlus phones does not automatically silence every notification. By default, the system can still show a banner or play a tone for certain apps, depending on priority rules.

This behavior is controlled by the Restrict notifications option inside Do Not Disturb, part of the sound management in OxygenOS. It decides how much of a notification actually reaches you while the mode is active.

To adjust it, open SettingsSounds & vibrationDo Not DisturbRestrict notifications. From there, choose No sound from notifications to keep visual alerts but mute audio, No visuals or sound from notifications to block both, or Custom to set rules per app.

Picking No visuals or sound from notifications stops lock screen previews and shade entries from showing while Do Not Disturb is running. That works well during meetings or sleep, but it also means time-sensitive alerts, like verification codes, might get missed unless you set exceptions for those apps first.

If you only want to silence a handful of apps instead of everything, adjust notification settings for those apps directly rather than using the global Restrict notifications option.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. That option only mutes sound and vibration. Visual banners and lock screen entries still appear. Choose No visuals or sound from notifications if you want alerts hidden completely.
