If pressing the power button five times keeps launching Emergency SOS by accident, or the shortcut refuses to trigger when you actually need it, the Emergency call quick access toggle is probably set the wrong way. The feature works straight from the lock screen and dials your saved emergency contacts, so an unwanted trigger during everyday use can be just as annoying as a missing one in a real emergency.
Create a Local Backup (Storage & Backup)
If your internet connection is too slow or unreliable for a cloud backup, or you simply don't want your data stored online, ColorOS lets you save contacts, messages, call logs, system data and installed apps directly on the device. Without a backup, a factory reset or device swap wipes anything that isn't synced to an account. The local backup can be stored in phone storage or on a memory card.
Change Home Screen Transition Effect
Swiping between home screen pages on your Oppo phone always plays the same sliding animation, even though ColorOS ships with several other transition styles. If the default motion feels plain or you want something like a cube rotation, foil turn, card flip or tilt effect instead, the option is tucked into the home screen settings rather than the main display menu.
Turn On/Off Silent Mode
If your Oppo phone stays quiet during calls and texts but the alarm or music still plays at full volume, Silent mode is likely active. It mutes incoming calls and SMS notifications and can optionally allow vibration, while media and alarm volume stay untouched. Many users mistake this for a broken speaker or a vibration setting that will not turn off.
Share Internet via Bluetooth
If a paired device still shows no internet after you toggle Bluetooth tethering on your Oppo phone, WLAN is usually the reason. Sharing internet over Bluetooth only pulls from mobile data, so an active WLAN connection on either device can quietly block the handoff. This mostly comes up when you want to lend a laptop or older phone a connection without switching on a full mobile hotspot.
Turn Google Play Protect On or Off

Number Row On/Off
Typing numbers on the Gboard keyboard normally means holding a key or switching to the symbol page, which slows down anything with PINs, prices or codes. On Oppo phones running Coloros you can pin a dedicated number row above the letters instead. The trade-off is a taller keyboard that leaves less room for the app underneath.
Show or Hide Week Numbers in Calendar
If your Oppo calendar does not show week numbers next to the dates, the setting is simply switched off by default. This option lives inside the calendar app itself, separate from the general phone settings, which is why most people never stumble across it. Without it, planning by calendar week for work or school becomes harder than it needs to be.
Set Monthly Data Usage Warning
On Oppo phones you can only define a single data warning that shows up once after you cross the limit you set. The mobile data limit has to be switched on first, otherwise the alert never fires. This data warning only exists from ColorOS 7 (Android 10) onward, so older devices wont show the option at all.
Turn SIM Card Lock On or Off
If your Oppo phone asks for a PIN every time it starts up, the SIM card lock is active. You can switch this PIN request on or off in the security settings, but you need the current PIN to change the setting. Without the correct PIN, the SIM stays locked and calls, texts, and mobile data will not work.
Allow Display Over Other Apps
When Messenger, Facebook chat heads or a call app refuse to pop up on top of other apps, the floating windows permission on your Oppo phone is usually switched off. This option sits right next to the factory reset in the settings menu, so it is easy to trigger the wrong one by mistake.
Turn Mono Audio On or Off
If you only wear one earbud or rely on a single-ear headset, Oppo's default stereo playback can cause you to miss dialogue, notification tones, or background sounds that are mixed to the other channel. This shows up during calls, videos, and games where audio cues are split left and right. Mono audio fixes this by merging both channels into one identical signal.
Turn On or Off the Keyboard Suggestion Strip
If a row of word suggestions keeps popping up above the keyboard while you type, that is the suggestion strip built into Gboard. Oppo phones ship with this bar switched on by default, and tapping a suggested word drops it straight into your text. If the constant suggestions distract you or make typing feel cluttered, you can turn the strip off in the keyboard settings.
Reject a Call with a Quick Response Text

Screen recording on Oppo starts fine from Quick settings, but the actual recording options are hidden away in a separate menu. Coloros lets you hide entire accounts or single categories from the calendar view without deleting any data. The setting sits inside the calendar app itself, not in the general account settings.
