Set Default Keyboard
Installed a new keyboard app but Oppo keeps opening Gboard whenever you tap a text field? Activating a keyboard alone does not make it the one your phone actually uses. Until you set it as default, typing still falls back to whichever keyboard was active before.
Turn Camera Watermark On/Off
If every photo or video from the camera app carries an unwanted overlay with the phone model, date, time, or location, ColorOS added that watermark automatically. On some Oppo phones the setting stays active after a reset or software update. It only affects the built-in Camera app, not third-party apps or the gallery.
Remove an Account
If an old account still shows up under Users & accounts on your Oppo phone even after signing out, it was only logged out, not removed. Removing the account deletes its local data and sync settings from the device, but the account and any data stored in its cloud stay untouched.
Limit Connected Devices on Personal Hotspot
By default, an Oppo hotspot accepts up to ten devices at once, which slows down shared data or blocks a new phone or laptop from joining once that cap is reached. If your household needs fewer simultaneous connections for better speed, or more room for extra devices, the ten-device default is not fixed. You can raise or lower it directly in the hotspot settings.
Pin a Conversation to the Top
If an important SMS thread keeps getting buried under newer messages, the Messages app on Oppo phones is sorting everything by latest activity only. There is no default setting that keeps one contact permanently visible. Pinning changes that behavior so the conversation stays first no matter what arrives afterward.
Delete Face Unlock Data
If you no longer want face recognition to unlock your Oppo phone, the stored face scan needs to be removed manually from the security settings. This step requires your screen lock password or PIN, and skipping it means the phone keeps trying to match your face every time the display wakes up. Some users also notice slower unlock attempts or repeated fallback to PIN entry when an outdated face profile is still active.
Show or Hide the Fingerprint Icon on the Lock Screen
On Oppo phones with an in-display fingerprint sensor, a small icon lights up at the sensor spot even while the screen is off. If the shortcut is missing or keeps triggering unwanted periods, the option needs to be checked directly in the keyboard settings.
Turn Screenshot Sound On or Off
Every screenshot on your Oppo phone plays a camera-shutter sound, even in meetings or quiet rooms. That noise comes from a dedicated toggle in the sound settings, not from the screenshot gesture itself, so silent mode alone often does not stop it.
Turn HDR On or Off in the Camera App
Photos taken indoors or against bright windows often come out either too dark in the shadows or completely blown out in the sky. That happens because the HDR mode in the Camera app is set the wrong way for the scene you are shooting. You cannot install apps directly onto the memory card, but many apps let you redirect new data to it once you set the card as the default storage target. Whether this actually frees up space depends on whether the app itself supports external storage.
One-Handed Mode: Turn On or Off
Reaching the top corners of a large Oppo screen with a single thumb is often impossible, especially when you are holding a bag or standing on a train. One-Handed mode shrinks the whole interface into a smaller window so every icon stays within thumb range. Many users only discover this option by accident inside the Quick settings panel.
Allow Calls During Do Not Disturb
If Do Not Disturb is active on your Oppo phone, calls get silenced unless you add an exception. You can choose to let calls through from everyone, only from saved contacts, or from a handful of selected people. Missing this setting means important calls go straight to silence with no ring at all.

Show or Hide Battery Percentage in Status Bar
If your Oppo phone only shows a battery icon in the status bar, you can't tell exactly how much charge is left. The icon shape changes as it drains, but it never tells you whether you're at 42 percent or 58 percent. Coloros hides the exact number by default, so you're stuck guessing from the icon alone.
Delete Photos or Videos
Storage fills up fast when old photos and videos pile up in the Oppo Gallery app, and deleting them one by one feels endless. Switching to edit mode lets you select several files at once, but the items you remove do not disappear right away. They sit in the Trash for a while first, which still counts against your free storage until they are cleared out.

Videos with subtitle tracks often play without any captions showing up on an Oppo phone, because the subtitle option is switched off by default. Turn On/Off Contact Suggestions in Messages
