Change Video Resolution
Not every Oppo phone records the same video quality out of the box, and the default setting often stays on HD or FullHD even when your device supports more. If your clips look softer than expected or take up more storage than planned, the resolution picked in the camera app is usually the reason.
Adjust Display Size
If app icons, images, or entire menus look too small or too large on your Oppo phone, adjusting the font size alone will not fix it. Display size scales interface elements independently from text, changing how much content fits on the screen at once. Getting this setting wrong can make apps feel cramped or leave icons oversized on the home screen.
Enable or Disable Speak Passwords in TalkBack
If TalkBack reads out every character of your password while you type, anyone standing nearby can hear it. This happens because the Speak passwords option inside TalkBack's accessibility settings is switched on by default on Oppo phones. You can turn this audio feedback off or back on in a few taps.
Change Calendar View
If your Oppo calendar always opens in the wrong layout, showing a full month grid when you just need today's schedule, the app is likely stuck on Month view. Coloros supports Schedule, Day, 3 days, Week and Month layouts, but the switch sits inside the app menu instead of the system settings, so it's easy to overlook.
Turn Google Backup On or Off
If your Oppo phone has stopped saving app data, call logs or Wi-Fi passwords to Google Drive, the Back up my data option is probably switched off. Without it, you lose the ability to restore that data after a factory reset or when setting up a new phone. Switching it back on keeps a running copy of your device data tied to your Google account.
Delete Access Point Names (APN)
If mobile data on your Oppo phone runs slow or drops out after a carrier switch, an outdated or duplicate Access Point Name (APN) is often the cause. ColorOS keeps old APN profiles around even after a SIM swap, and a broken entry can block a fresh connection from taking priority. Removing the faulty APN clears the conflict without wiping other network settings.
Connect to a Wi-Fi Network
If your Oppo phone stays offline or keeps asking for a network key you never typed, the Wi-Fi connection was never completed. Coloros scans for nearby networks automatically once Wi-Fi is switched on, but tapping the wrong network name or mistyping the password stops the connection right before it finishes.
Auto Brighten Screen for Face Unlock
If Face Unlock keeps failing in a dark room or at night, the front camera likely does not get enough light to map your face. Coloros has an 'Auto brighten screen for face recognition' option meant to fix exactly this, but it is easy to miss and easy to leave switched off by accident.
Turn Call Vibration On or Off
On many Oppo phones, the handset gives a short vibration pulse the moment you pick up or hang up a call, even with the ringer silent. If that buzz feels unnecessary or startles you in quiet settings, it comes from a dedicated toggle in the calling settings, not from your general vibration or Do Not Disturb setup.
Show or Hide Declined Events in Calendar
When a meeting invite gets declined, it often stays visible in the Oppo Calendar and clutters your day view. This makes it hard to tell which appointments are actually confirmed. A single setting in the Calendar app controls whether declined events stay on screen or disappear.
App Time Limit Setup
If one app keeps eating up your whole day, Oppo's Digital Wellbeing tools let you cap it with a daily timer. Once the time runs out, Coloros force-closes the app and keeps it locked until midnight. Each app gets its own separate limit, so you can restrict social media while leaving work apps untouched.
Autospace After Punctuation Toggle
Typing fast on your Oppo phone and ending up with double spaces or missing spaces after periods and commas? Gboard's autospace feature inserts a space automatically after punctuation, which can clash with your own typing habits or with pasted text that already has spacing.
Schedule Always-on Display
If your Oppo phone runs the Always-on Display around the clock, it keeps drawing power even while you sleep or leave the phone in a drawer. ColorOS lets you limit the Always-on Display to a fixed time window instead of showing it non-stop. Without a schedule, the clock and notifications stay visible on the lock screen at every hour, day and night.
Change SIM PIN
If you want to swap out a SIM PIN that is too easy to guess or matches an old default code, Oppo phones handle this through a dedicated lock screen for the card itself, separate from your phone unlock code. The catch is that ColorOS will not let you set a new PIN unless you can still enter the current one correctly. If that PIN has been forgotten, this menu will not help and a carrier unlock becomes necessary instead.
Change Default Event Duration in Calendar
If every new calendar entry on your Oppo phone comes out as a full hour, even for a quick call reminder, the default event length in Google Calendar is set too long. This gets worse when several accounts are linked, since each one can carry its own default. Manually shortening every single event afterward wastes time and gets annoying fast.
Add a New Contact
Saving a new number on your Oppo phone is not always obvious because the Add button in the Contacts app is easy to miss on a crowded contact list. Without a saved entry, incoming calls and texts show up only as a number instead of a name, and details like address or birthday never get stored. This makes it hard to organize contacts across calls, messages and other apps that read from the same address book.
Change Notification Volume
When notifications on your Oppo phone are too loud or barely audible, the culprit is usually the separate Notifications volume slider, not the ringtone or media volume. Change Keyboard Layout
Typing the wrong characters on your Oppo phone usually means the keyboard layout does not match the language you expect. German input calls for QWERTZ, English for QWERTY, and depending on the region you might need AZERTY, Dvorak, Neo2 or Colemak instead. Gboard on Coloros lets you add or switch these layouts per language, but the option sits several menus deep and is easy to miss.
Turn Mobile Data On or Off
If apps stop loading anything once you leave Wi-Fi range on your Oppo phone, mobile data is probably switched off, or the wrong SIM is set for internet use on a dual-SIM device. ColorOS routes all cellular internet traffic through one single toggle, so a wrong access point can block traffic even when that toggle looks enabled. Checking the actual mobile data status first saves you from chasing the wrong problem.
Turn Wi-Fi On or Off
If your Oppo phone won't connect to your home router or a public hotspot, the Wi-Fi radio itself might be switched off or stuck in a weird state. This also happens after a system update, when the toggle looks active but no networks show up. Before troubleshooting a specific network, it helps to confirm Wi-Fi is properly enabled or fully disabled first.
Change Monthly Data Limit
If mobile data on your Oppo phone cuts out mid-month, or never cuts out even after heavy use, the Mobile Data Limit setting inside Data usage is usually behind it. ColorOS applies this cap automatically and switches off mobile data the instant you hit the number you configured, which can catch you off guard if the value is too low or was never set at all. The exact layout of this menu can shift slightly between Oppo models.
Turn On-body Detection On or Off
Your Oppo phone stays unlocked the whole time you are carrying it, even after you slide it into a pocket or bag. That is On-body detection at work, a Smart Lock feature that reads motion sensors instead of checking who is actually holding the device. If someone else picks up your phone while it is still moving, they get straight in without a PIN or fingerprint.
Add Emergency Contacts for Emergency SOS
If Emergency SOS or emergency SMS on your Oppo phone only reaches the default 112 number, no personal emergency contact is stored yet. Without at least one saved contact, alerts and location messages during an SOS trigger won't go out to anyone you know.
Turn On/Off Screen-off Gestures
If double-tapping the display or drawing a quick O or V symbol does nothing while the screen is off, Screen-off gestures are probably disabled on your Oppo phone. These gestures let you open the camera, toggle the flashlight, or wake the display without pressing the power button. A single option in the convenience settings controls all of them.
