Tap-to-Capture: Take Photos with a Single Screen Tap
Tapping the screen to frame a shot on your Oppo camera sometimes fires the shutter instead of just setting focus. That happens because Touch to take photo is switched on, so the camera snaps the picture the instant focus locks on the spot you tapped. If you only wanted to adjust focus, this can lead to blurry or mistimed shots.
Turn Color Correction On or Off
If reds and greens look almost identical on your Oppo display, or if certain interface elements blend together, a color vision difference such as Deuteranomaly, Protanomaly or Tritanomaly might be affecting how you read the screen. ColorOS includes a built-in correction tool that shifts on-screen colors to make these differences less noticeable, but it only works once the right mode is selected. Leaving it off or set to the wrong mode means icons, charts and notifications can stay hard to distinguish.
Remove a Contact from a Group
If a contact group on your Oppo phone still lists someone who left a team or changed roles, you need to remove that entry without deleting the whole contact. Many people only know the single-contact method and never notice the faster group edit mode built into the Contacts app. Removing several members that way, one at a time, wastes time when you need to clean up a whole group.
Turn Auto Brightness On or Off
If your screen keeps getting too dark in bright rooms or too bright at night, the light sensor behind Auto brightness might be misreading your surroundings. Auto brightness is supposed to save battery and reduce eye strain by adjusting the screen on its own, but a dirty sensor, a case covering it, or a stuck setting can throw that off. Once you know where the switch lives, fixing it takes seconds.
Send a Contact's Calls Straight to Voicemail
When one particular contact keeps calling at the wrong moment, muting your whole phone or blocking them outright feels like overkill. Oppo lets you route calls from just that contact directly to voicemail, so your phone stays quiet only for them while everyone else still gets through. The call never rings on your device and the caller hears your voicemail greeting right away, with no delay or extra rings.
Switch Between 12- and 24-Hour Time Format
If your Oppo phone shows the time in 24-hour format but you expect a 12-hour clock with AM and PM, that is the default ColorOS behavior, not a bug. Some apps and widgets even keep displaying 24-hour time after you change the system clock, which confuses a lot of users. The fix sits in the date and time settings, separate from the region or language options.
Change TalkBack Navigation Settings
Once TalkBack is active on your Oppo phone, a single tap no longer opens anything, it only selects the item under your finger. A double tap is needed to actually confirm an action, which feels broken if you expected normal touch behavior. TalkBack's navigation settings let you switch to gestures, key combinations or fingerprint sensor control instead of the default tap-and-confirm method.
Change Keyboard Height
If typing on your Oppo feels cramped or the keyboard eats up too much of the screen, the default Gboard height is usually the cause. Coloros keeps this sizing option tucked inside the keyboard app itself rather than the main display settings, so most people never find it. Seven presets are available, from Very Low up to Very High.
Set Up Wi-Fi Tethering as a Repeater
If a room in your home barely gets a signal from your router, your Oppo phone can share its existing WLAN connection with other devices as a repeater. Wi-Fi Tethering lets you set a custom network name and password, or you can just keep the default values and connect right away. This only works while your phone stays connected to the source WLAN itself.
Turn Banner Notifications On or Off Per App
If banner notifications keep popping up for apps you would rather have silent, or a chat app stopped showing previews at the top of the screen at all, the setting sits inside the individual app notification controls, not in a general notification menu. On Oppo phones running Coloros, banners can be switched off or back on separately for every single app, and in some apps even per notification category.
Set Dark or Light Theme for the Contacts App
If the Contacts app on your Oppo still shows a bright white background while the rest of the system already runs in a dark scheme, calls and messages can feel harsh on the eyes at night. This happens because Contacts has its own theme setting, separate from the general display mode. Switching it manually also helps reduce battery drain on screens with an OLED panel.
Camera Quick Launch Gesture
If double-pressing a volume button doesn't open the camera from a locked screen, or the camera keeps launching by accident in your pocket, the Quick launch gesture setting controls that behavior. It runs on Oppo phones through ColorOS but pauses automatically while music or other audio is playing. Checking whether the toggle is active or off clears up most issues with the double-press shortcut.
Auto-Reconnect to a Wi-Fi Network
If your Oppo phone keeps hopping back onto a weak or blocked Wi-Fi network instead of switching to mobile data, the Automatically reconnect option is the reason. It is active by default for every saved network, which is convenient at home but annoying near a guest hotspot with a login page or poor signal. You can turn it off for one network only, without affecting the others.
Add Apps and Games to Game Space
If a game or app does not launch inside Game Space on your Oppo phone, it usually has not been added to the managed list yet. Without that step, the app starts as a normal application and misses out on performance tweaks, do-not-disturb, and other Game Space functions.
Turn On/Off Google Location History
If Google Location History stays enabled on your Oppo phone, almost every street, building and restaurant you pass gets logged with a timestamp. That data sits in your Google account, not only on the device, and keeps growing even while the screen is off. Many Oppo users only spot the tracking when they open their Google Maps timeline and see a full map of their week.
Set Dark or Light Theme for the Calendar App
If Calendar keeps showing a bright white background even after you switch the whole phone to Dark Mode, the app is not following the system setting. Google Calendar on Oppo phones uses its own theme switch, separate from Coloros. This mismatch is common right after a software update or a fresh app install.
Turn Airplane Mode On or Off
If your Oppo phone will not connect to a network, WLAN, or Bluetooth device, Airplane mode might already be running in the background. Turning it on cuts mobile signal, WLAN, Bluetooth and NFC at once, which is useful on a plane but confusing when it happens by accident. Switching it off again does not restore every connection automatically, since only the settings you had active before get reloaded.
Turn Automatic App Updates On or Off
If your Oppo phone keeps downloading app updates over mobile data or storage fills up without warning, the Play Store's auto-update setting is likely active in the background. Depending on your preference, updates can be limited to WLAN, allowed over any connection, or switched off completely. Checking this setting also helps when apps update at random times without asking for confirmation first.
Mark All Messages as Read
If your inbox fills up with several new texts at once, opening each conversation just to clear the unread badge gets tedious fast. On Oppo phones running ColorOS, the default messaging app lets you clear every unread conversation in one move instead of tapping through them one by one. This works the same way whether the notification badge is stuck at a high number or you just want a clean inbox.
Reset System Settings
If your Oppo phone keeps using the wrong ringtone, an old wallpaper or a saved WiFi password that no longer connects, a full factory reset is overkill. Resetting the system settings only clears the device configuration itself, not your photos, apps or files. This distinction matters when you just want to fix a misconfigured setting without losing anything stored on the phone.
Set Date Manually
If the date on your Oppo phone is wrong and there is no direct way to edit it, the automatic time sync is the reason. ColorOS locks date and time together, so both need attention once automatic sync gets switched off. Skipping the time step often leaves the clock inaccurate even after you set the correct date.
Set a Data Limit for the Personal Hotspot
If your Oppo shares mobile data through the personal hotspot, other devices can burn through your plan without any warning. Without a fixed cap, laptops and tablets connected to the hotspot keep pulling data even after your allowance is gone. A data restriction shuts the hotspot down automatically once the defined limit is reached.
Reject an Incoming Call
If a call catches you at the wrong moment on your Oppo phone, tapping the screen the wrong way can pick up the call instead of declining it. Coloros does not use a simple reject button for this - it relies on a drag gesture on the phone icon, which trips up anyone used to other Android phones.
Keep Select to Speak Reading in the Background
When Select to Speak stops reading aloud the moment you switch to another app, the voice output is tied to whatever text is still visible on screen. Long articles or documents get cut off mid-sentence once you open a different app or lock the display. The experimental Read in background option lets narration continue independently of what is currently shown.
