Set Time Manually
If the clock on your Oppo phone refuses to change no matter what you tap, the phone is still pulling the time from the mobile network. As long as 'Use time from network' stays active, the manual time field is locked or simply not shown inside Date & time. Turning that toggle off is what unlocks the option to type in your own time.
Create a Photo Album
When photos and screenshots keep piling up in one long timeline, finding a specific shot becomes a scroll marathon. The Gallery app on Oppo phones lets you group images and clips into albums, but ColorOS keeps the feature basic. You cannot pick a cover image, rename categories after the fact in every version, or nest one album inside another.
Optimize Battery Consumption
If your Oppo phone drains fast even when you barely touch it, background apps are usually pulling power without you noticing. Oppo phones include a function that scans your usage and shows exactly how much charge you could save, app by app. Knowing which processes it restricts helps you decide if the automatic suggestion fits how you actually use your phone.
Custom Ringtone for Contact Groups
If every incoming call sounds the same, you can't tell whether it's family, work, or a friend without checking the screen. On Oppo phones, contact groups can each carry their own ringtone, separate from the general call sound and separate from per-contact tones.
Turn On/Off Focus Mode
When Focus mode is active on your Oppo phone, the apps you marked as distracting stop running in the background, so no messages or alerts come through until you check them manually. That silence can look like a bug, especially if you enabled the feature by accident or forgot a schedule was running. Coloros keeps the block in place until you switch the mode off or the scheduled window ends.
Reset Advertising ID
Ads on your Oppo phone keep matching your recent searches and app habits a little too closely. That happens because every device carries a fixed Advertising ID that links your behavior across apps for personalized ads. Turning off interest-based ads alone does not remove that link - the ID itself needs a reset.
Turn Screenshot Gestures On or Off
If a screenshot pops up every time you swipe down with three fingers, or a partial capture opens whenever you touch and hold with three fingers, the screenshot gesture settings on your Oppo phone are active. These gestures work independently from the button combination and are enabled by default in ColorOS. Random captures while gaming or scrolling usually point to one of these gestures firing by accident.
Set Up Fingerprint Unlock
If your Oppo phone still asks for PIN, pattern or password every time you wake the screen, the fingerprint sensor probably is not set up yet. Fingerprint unlock only works once a backup method like PIN or pattern is already active, since ColorOS needs that fallback to register your print. The same fingerprint also works as a shortcut to reset a forgotten lock screen password.
Change Lock Screen Wallpaper
If your lock screen keeps showing the same picture as your home screen, ColorOS is applying wallpaper changes to both screens by default. This happens with your own photos, standard wallpapers, and live wallpapers alike. You need to pick the target screen manually to keep the two separate.
Add App Exceptions to Do Not Disturb
If Do Not Disturb mode silences a messaging or work app you actually need to hear from, that is expected behavior on Oppo phones, not a bug. Coloros mutes every app by default once Do Not Disturb turns on, and only apps added to the allowed list keep making sound and showing alerts. Without that exception, calls, chats and reminders from that app stay silent until you turn the mode off.
Add Trusted Places to Smart Lock
If your Oppo phone keeps asking for a PIN or pattern even at home or in the office, Smart Lock's Trusted Places feature is probably not configured yet. Without a saved location, the phone falls back to your regular screen lock everywhere, including places you visit every day. Trusted Places keeps the device unlocked within roughly 50 meters of a spot you pick, as long as location services stay on.
Set an Alarm with Custom Repeat and Ringtone
On Oppo phones several alarms exist side by side, each with its own repeat pattern, snooze length, vibration and ringtone. When you set up a new alarm or edit an existing one, it is easy to miss where these individual options actually live and end up with the wrong sound or repeat days. This mixes up daily wake-up alarms with one-off reminders.
Change Font Size
If text on your Oppo phone looks too small to read comfortably or too cramped when enlarged, ColorOS lets you adjust the font size on its own. Only the letters scale up or down, while icons, buttons and layout keep their original size, which can make some screens look unbalanced at the extreme settings.
Turn Personalized Ads On or Off
Every Oppo phone carries a unique Advertising ID that networks use to build a profile from your app usage and browsing habits. If ads keep following you across unrelated apps with oddly specific products, that identifier is the reason. You can either reset this ID for a fresh start or opt out of ad personalization completely.
Adjust Touch & Hold Delay
If long-pressing icons or text on your Oppo feels either too twitchy or too sluggish, the touch-and-hold timing is likely set wrong for your habits. This delay controls how long you need to press before the system registers a touch and hold instead of a normal tap.
Turn Call Vibration On or Off
Every incoming call makes your Oppo phone buzz, even when you already picked a ringtone you like. If that vibration feels distracting, unnecessary at your desk, or drains the battery faster during calls, the toggle for it lives inside your sound settings, not in a separate ringtone menu.
Import Contacts from a vCard File
Switching to an Oppo phone often means your old contacts sit in a vCard file or on another device, and there is no simple sync button for that. Coloros only lets you import a full .vcf file or pull contacts directly from another phone via Bluetooth, without any option to pick single entries from the list. If you only need a handful of numbers, you end up with everything from the source file instead.
Clear App Cache
If an Oppo app keeps loading outdated images, freezes, or your storage fills up faster than expected, a bloated app cache is often the reason. ColorOS stores temporary files like thumbnails and login data so apps open faster, but old or corrupted cache entries can trigger glitches or slow performance. Clearing the cache removes this leftover data without deleting your photos, documents, or app settings.
Add a Contact Photo
If your contact list on Oppo still shows plain initials instead of faces, calls and messages are harder to scan at a glance. This happens because no image has been linked to that contact yet in the Contacts app. Adding a photo works with an existing gallery picture or a new snapshot from the camera.
Forward a Message on Oppo
Retyping a text just to send it to someone else wastes time, especially when the message contains links or details you cannot easily reproduce. Oppo phones let you forward an SMS straight from the conversation, and you can also send it to a different app instead of another contact.
Turn On/Off Select to Speak
When Select to Speak is active, an extra accessibility icon shows up in the navigation bar, and tapping it lets you highlight any text on screen to have it read aloud. It works similar to TalkBack but does not take over your phone's regular touch controls. If that icon suddenly appears or disappears without you doing anything, the setting may have been toggled by accident during a system update or a shared accessibility shortcut.
Edit Quick Decline Messages
When you reject an incoming call with a quick text, Oppo phones send one of four preset replies like 'Sorry, I can't answer the phone now.' These default lines rarely match how you'd actually respond to family, friends, or coworkers. Coloros lets you rewrite all four texts, but the setting sits inside the phone app rather than Messages.
Turn Screen Rotation On or Off
If your Oppo screen refuses to switch to landscape when you turn the phone, or it flips around when you'd rather it stayed still, the Auto-rotate function is usually the cause. This setting depends on the built-in position sensor and can be changed either in the system settings or right from the quick settings panel. Some apps ignore this setting entirely and force their own orientation regardless of what you pick.
Turn On/Off Magnification (Accessibility)
If text and icons on your Oppo phone are too small to read comfortably, the built-in magnification tool works like a digital magnifying glass. A triple tap on the screen opens a zoom window that you control with a two-finger pinch. The feature covers the entire display except the keyboard and navigation bar, and many users cannot find where to switch it on or off.
