Turn Google Voice Typing On or Off
If a microphone icon keeps showing up on your Oppo keyboard even though you never asked for voice input, Google voice typing is active by default under ColorOS. It sits inside the keyboard settings alongside your regular input method, so many users only notice it once they tap it by accident. You can switch it off there, or turn it back on if speech input disappeared after an update.
Set a Custom Ringtone
If the built-in ringtone list feels too limited or you cannot find the option to use your own audio file, ColorOS often buries this setting inside the Sound menu instead of the main Ringtone screen. Set Default Browser App
Tapping a link on your Oppo phone keeps launching Chrome even though you installed a different browser. That happens because Android still lists Chrome as the default handler for web links, regardless of which app you actually prefer to use. Until you switch that setting, every link from messages, emails or apps will keep opening in the wrong browser.
Block Offensive Words in Gboard Suggestions
Typing certain words on your Oppo keyboard and getting no suggestion at all can be confusing, especially if autocorrect skips slang or informal terms you actually meant to use. This happens because the Block offensive words option in the keyboard text correction settings filters out profanity and vulgar terms before they reach the suggestion bar. Switching this filter on or off changes exactly what Gboard is allowed to suggest while you type.
Accessibility Menu: Enable or Disable
If you don't see a small round shortcut icon in your navigation bar, the Accessibility Menu on your Oppo phone is switched off. Auto Click After Pointer Stop On/Off

Enable Geotagging for Photos and Videos
If your photos never show where they were taken, geotagging is likely turned off in the camera settings. Without it, the shot's location never gets written into the file's metadata, so gallery apps and map views cannot place the picture on a map later. This toggle sits directly in the camera app, separate from the general location settings.
Change Notification Sound
If every app on your Oppo phone plays the same generic tone for new messages, emails, and app alerts, it gets hard to tell them apart without checking the screen. Coloros uses one shared default notification sound for most apps, while the Phone and Messages apps keep their own separate tone settings. Swapping this default tone is done once in the sound settings instead of inside each app.
Flash Alert for Incoming Calls
If you often miss calls because your Oppo phone is face-down or the screen is off, the ringtone alone might not be enough in a noisy room. Coloros can blink the camera flash for every incoming call, but the option sits buried in the calling settings and stays off by default. Turning it on, or switching it off again if it bothers you, only takes a few taps once you know where to look.
Raise to Wake Setting
If your Oppo screen keeps lighting up on its own while the phone sits on a table or rides around in your bag, a motion sensor is picking up every small movement. That behavior comes from a gesture setting that wakes the display the moment the phone is lifted or shifted, and it can drain battery or trigger accidental touches when you did not mean to check the phone.
Screen Timeout Settings
If your Oppo display locks itself after just a few seconds while you are still reading or filling out a form, the screen timeout is set too short for how you use the phone. Coloros applies a default auto screen off value that favors battery savings over convenience. The duration can be raised or lowered anywhere between a few seconds and half an hour.
Enable Face Recognition for App Lock and Private Safe
If Oppo face unlock only works for the lock screen, you might not know it can also protect individual apps and the Private Safe. Many users set up Face once for unlocking the phone and never realize App Lock and Private Safe use a separate toggle in the same menu. Without turning that option on, those areas fall back to a password or pattern even though your face profile already exists.
Auto Turn-Off for Personal Hotspot

Tasks, events, birthdays and separate accounts can all be marked with their own color, but the option is buried a few taps deep in the calendar settings. Once assigned, the color stays attached to that category across every view.
Add a Keyboard Language on Gboard
If you type in more than one language, the default Gboard setup only offers your phone's system language and blocks you from typing accented characters or a different script. Switching the whole system language just to write a message is not necessary. Gboard can hold several languages at once and let you switch between them while typing.
Change Preferred Network Type
If your Oppo phone keeps dropping back to a slower connection or refuses to lock onto 5G, the Preferred network type setting is usually the reason. This option tells the modem which network generation to search for first, and a wrong choice leads to dropped calls, sluggish data, or a missing 5G icon. The available options depend on your device model and what your carrier actually supports.
Disable Mirror Effect for Front Camera Selfies
Selfies taken with the front camera on Oppo phones often come out mirrored, so text and logos appear backwards and your face looks flipped compared to how others actually see you. This happens because the camera saves the photo exactly as shown in the live preview instead of correcting the flip. Enable Mobile Data During Calls on Secondary SIM
