Realme: Turn Icon Autofill On or Off

When you uninstall an app on your Realme phone, the other home screen icons sometimes shift on their own to close the empty spot. That happens because of the Icon autofill setting, which rearranges shortcuts without asking first. If you like keeping your icons in fixed positions, this behavior needs to be switched off.

Icon Autofill Setting auf Realme

On Realme phones running Realme UI, the home screen keeps itself tidy by default. When an app gets removed, the icons that come after it shift left to fill the gap automatically. This behavior is controlled by a single setting called Icon autofill.

With Icon autofill turned on, every uninstall or shortcut removal triggers an automatic reflow of the remaining icons across your home screen pages. That is convenient if you do not care about exact icon placement, but frustrating if you organize apps into specific spots or leave gaps on purpose for visual grouping.

Turning the setting off stops this automatic rearranging. Removed apps simply leave an empty space where they used to sit, and nothing else moves until you drag icons yourself.

To change it, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Home screen & Lock screenEnable or disable Icon autofill. The toggle applies immediately, so you can test both states before deciding which layout behavior fits how you use your home screen.

Frequently asked questions

No. With the setting disabled, the empty spot stays exactly where the app used to be until you manually drag another icon there or delete the page.
