Realme: Manage Background Activity for Apps

If messaging apps stop delivering notifications until you open them manually, or a music app cuts out a few minutes after you switch away, Realme UI is probably restricting that app's background activity. This battery-saving feature decides which apps stay active once you leave them, and by default many apps get shut down quickly. Turning background activity back on for individual apps fixes missed alerts without disabling battery optimization entirely.

Allow or Restrict Background Activity of Apps auf Realme

Realme UI closes background apps aggressively to save battery, especially once a device has been running for a while or has limited free RAM. This behavior is controlled per app through a dedicated background activity setting, separate from the general battery optimization modes.

When an app is not allowed to run in the background, Android suspends it a few seconds after you switch away. Messaging apps stop receiving push notifications until reopened, music or navigation apps interrupt playback, and fitness trackers lose activity data mid-session.

To restore normal behavior for a specific app, open SettingsBatteryApp battery management ➔ select the app ➔ enable Allow background activity ➔ confirm with Allow.

Only enable this for apps you actually need running in the background. Allowing it for every app cancels out the battery savings the feature is designed to deliver.

If notifications are still delayed after enabling background activity, check whether the app is also listed under sleeping or frozen apps in the same menu. Those are separate restrictions and can override the background activity toggle.

Frequently asked questions

Check whether the app also appears under sleeping or deep sleep restrictions inside SettingsBatteryApp battery management, since those settings can override the background activity toggle.
