Every Realme phone running Realme UI keeps a system clock that other apps rely on for timestamps, alarms, reminders, and scheduled tasks. The date and time settings area controls how that clock gets its information: automatically from the network or GPS, or manually from your own input.
By default, Realme UI syncs date, time, and time zone automatically using data from your mobile carrier or a connected Wi-Fi network. This is the setting most people should keep enabled, because it adjusts the clock the moment you cross into a new time zone or when daylight saving time changes.
When automatic sync breaks down
Automatic sync depends on receiving a valid signal. If you travel with only Wi-Fi and no SIM, or use a phone without cellular service, the automatic time zone detection can lag or pick the wrong region based on the Wi-Fi network location. Flight mode, weak signal, or a SIM from a different carrier can also delay the update.
In these cases, switching to GPS-based time zone detection, or setting the date, time, and zone manually, gives you back control over accuracy.

Manual mode is useful for testing apps, working with time-sensitive data, or keeping a device intentionally set to a fixed reference time zone regardless of location.
Why a wrong clock causes bigger problems
A drifted or incorrect system time affects more than the lock screen clock. Secure connections, some banking and authentication apps, calendar sync, backup schedules, and alarms all read from the same system clock. A time zone that is off by even one hour can shift meeting reminders or make message timestamps confusing in group chats.
Realme UI also uses the system clock for background tasks like scheduled downloads and battery optimization routines, so keeping it accurate helps those features behave as expected.
Format and display options
Beyond the clock itself, this settings area lets you choose how time and date appear across the system: 24-hour versus 12-hour format, and how the date is ordered on lock screen widgets and notification timestamps. These display choices are separate from the actual time value and can be changed without touching sync settings.
If your phone consistently shows the wrong time zone after a flight or SIM swap, toggling automatic time zone off and back on often forces a fresh sync faster than waiting for the network to update on its own.
