Realme: Set Default USB Connection Mode

If your Realme phone keeps asking whether to charge or transfer files every time you plug in a USB cable, that repeated prompt comes from a setting most people never touch. The phone has no fixed default for USB behavior, so it shows the same selection screen on every connection to a PC or laptop. Developer options lets you lock in one mode instead of choosing it manually each time.

Set Default USB Configuration auf Realme

Every time a Realme phone connects to a computer, Android checks the current USB configuration and shows a popup asking whether to charge only, transfer files, or use another mode. This happens because no default is set, so the system always waits for manual input.

You can remove that step by defining a fixed default inside Developer options. This setting decides what the phone assumes automatically whenever a USB cable is plugged in, without changing anything about charging speed or transfer performance.

To set it, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Additional settingsTap on Developer optionsTap on Default USB configurationSet the Default USB configuration.

Pick file transfer if you regularly move photos or documents to a PC. Choose charging only if you mainly connect to power banks or car chargers and want to avoid accidental file access prompts.

If Developer options is not visible yet, it needs to be unlocked first through the build number in system settings. Changing the default USB configuration does not affect USB debugging or other developer settings, and it can be switched again at any time.
