Realme: Turn On/Off USB Debugging

When your PC does not recognize your Realme phone in ADB or Android Studio, USB debugging is usually still switched off. This option lives inside the hidden Developer options menu, which most Realme phones do not show by default. Without it enabled, tools like ADB, Scrcpy or Android Studio cannot talk to your device over USB.

Turn On/Off USB Debugging auf Realme

USB debugging gives developer tools like ADB, Android Studio or Scrcpy direct access to your Realme phone over a USB connection. Without it, your computer can charge the phone or transfer files, but it cannot run commands, install APKs via ADB or mirror the screen.

On Realme UI, this switch sits inside the Developer options menu, which stays hidden until you unlock it manually. That is a deliberate safeguard, since USB debugging grants deep system access and should only be active while you actually need it.

Where to find the switch

Once Developer options are unlocked, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Additional settingsTap on Developer optionsEnable or disable USB debuggingTap on OK. Confirming with OK is required, otherwise the toggle reverts itself.

If Developer options do not appear in Additional settings yet, you first need to unlock them by tapping the build number multiple times in the About phone section. Only after that step will the Developer options entry, and with it the USB debugging switch, become visible.

When to turn it off again

Leave USB debugging disabled for everyday use. Turn it on only right before connecting to a PC for flashing, debugging an app or using ADB commands, then switch it back off once the session ends.

Frequently asked questions

Reconnect the USB cable after enabling the toggle under Developer optionsUSB debugging. The authorization popup only appears on a fresh physical connection, not while the cable is already plugged in.
