Realme: Enable Display Over Other Apps

When Messenger or Facebook stop showing chat bubbles or floating windows on your Realme phone, the Display over other apps permission is usually switched off. This setting decides whether an app can draw its interface on top of whatever else is open on screen. Without it, floating icons, quick-reply popups and overlay notifications simply do not show up.

Allow or Block Display Over Other Apps auf Realme

Chat bubbles from Messenger, floating widgets, or quick-reply popups rely on a system permission called Display over other apps. If this permission is off for an app, Realme UI blocks it from drawing anything on top of other screens, so notifications open only inside the app itself.

This is a per-app setting, not a global switch. Realme UI keeps it disabled by default for most apps to save battery and avoid unwanted overlays covering games or videos.

To check or change it, go to SettingsApp managementDisplay over other apps and turn the toggle on or off for the app you need. The list shows every installed app that has requested this permission at least once.

Turning the permission on lets the app show floating bubbles, PiP windows, or alert popups even while you use something else. Turning it off stops those overlays completely, which also removes any related notification badge that depends on the floating window.

If notifications still do not appear after enabling this, check the app's own notification settings and battery optimization status separately, since those control delivery, not the overlay itself.

Frequently asked questions

Only apps that have already asked for this permission appear under Display over other apps. Open the app once and trigger the feature that needs an overlay, then check the list again.
