Realme: Set Up Face Unlock

Typing in a PIN or pressing the fingerprint sensor every time you pick up your phone gets old fast. Realme phones let you unlock with your face instead, using the front camera to store your biometric data on the device. Before you turn it on, it helps to know how the scan works and what happens with screen brightness afterward.

Set Up Face Recognition auf Realme

Face Unlock on Realme phones uses the front camera to scan and store a biometric map of your face directly on the device. Once set up, it works as an additional unlock method alongside your PIN, pattern, or fingerprint.

To register your face, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Password & biometricsTap on Add face and follow the on-screen instructions. Realme UI guides you through positioning your face in the frame while the camera captures the scan.

Automatic brightness during scanning

After you turn on Face Unlock, the system can raise screen brightness automatically during the scan. This helps the camera read your face in low light, but it also means the screen may briefly flash brighter than usual when you unlock the phone in a dark room.

Face Unlock is convenient for quick access but generally offers weaker security than a fingerprint, since a photo or a look-alike can sometimes fool the camera depending on lighting and angle. If you handle sensitive apps or payments, keep a PIN or fingerprint as your primary method and use Face Unlock mainly for convenience.

If the scan repeatedly fails, check that the front camera lens is clean and that you are not wearing anything that covers a large part of your face, such as a mask or sunglasses.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Both methods can be active together. Realme UI lets you unlock with whichever one succeeds first, so you can keep fingerprint as a backup if the face scan fails.
