Realme: Keep Lock Screen Visible After Face Recognition

On Realme phones, pressing the power button often unlocks the device straight to the home screen as soon as your face is recognized, so the lock screen never actually shows up. That skips past notifications, widgets, and other lock screen info you might still want to glance at. Realme UI has a separate screen unlock setting that decides whether recognition unlocks the phone immediately or just wakes the display for a swipe.

Stay on Lock Screen After Face Unlock auf Realme

Realme UI treats face recognition as a fast-track unlock method by default. As soon as the camera confirms your face after a power button press, the phone jumps straight to the home screen instead of stopping at the lock screen.

This behavior is controlled by the Screen unlock option inside the Face settings, separate from the recognition itself. Two modes are available: Auto unlock, which bypasses the lock screen entirely, and Swipe up to unlock, which only wakes the display and confirms your identity, leaving the lock screen in place until you swipe.

To switch modes, go to SettingsPassword & biometricsFaceScreen unlock and choose Swipe up to unlock or Auto unlock.

Swipe up to unlock is useful if you rely on lock screen notifications, widgets, or want a manual confirmation step before entering the home screen. Auto unlock is faster but removes access to lock screen content on wake.

This setting only affects face recognition. Fingerprint unlock and PIN entry keep their own independent behavior and are not changed by this option.

Frequently asked questions

Auto unlock lets face recognition unlock the phone completely once your face is verified. Swipe up to unlock only uses recognition to confirm identity and wakes the screen, but you still need to swipe up on the lock screen to enter the home screen.
