Realme: Turn Google Play Protect On or Off

If Realme keeps flagging safe apps as risky, or you want extra scanning before installing new software, Google Play Protect is the setting controlling this behavior. It runs in the background on every Realme UI phone, checking apps during and after download for known threats. Turning it off stops these automatic scans, which also removes the safety net against malicious sideloaded apps.

Turn Google Play Protect On or Off auf Realme

Google Play Protect runs as a background service on every Realme phone using Realme UI. It scans apps during download and again periodically afterward, comparing them against a database of known malware.

When Play Protect finds a suspicious app, it shows a notification and offers to uninstall it. This can interrupt installation of apps from outside the Play Store, even when the app is safe, which is a common reason users want to disable the scanner temporarily.

To adjust this, open Tap on SettingsTap on SecurityTap on Google Play ProtectTap on SettingsEnable or disable Scan apps with Play Protect.

Turning the toggle off stops both the download scan and the periodic device scan. Turning it back on restores automatic checks without needing to reinstall anything.

Disable Play Protect only for a short window, for example while installing a trusted APK from outside the Play Store. Leaving it off long-term removes a layer of protection against malware bundled in sideloaded apps, so re-enable it once the installation is done.

Frequently asked questions

No. Disabling it only stops future scans. Apps already checked keep their previous scan status until you re-enable Scan apps with Play Protect.
