Realme: Show or Hide the Emoji Switch Key on Gboard

If the button next to your spacebar always switches keyboard language instead of opening emojis, Gboard is set to prioritize language switching over quick emoji access. This is controlled by a single Gboard preference, not a system-wide keyboard setting. Switching it on replaces that key with a direct emoji shortcut.

Show/Hide Emoji Switch Key auf Realme

On Realme phones running Realme UI, the key next to the spacebar can show either a language switcher or a direct emoji shortcut, but not both at the same time. This behavior is controlled inside Gboard, not in the general Android keyboard settings, so changing it does not affect other keyboard apps installed on the device.

To enable or disable the emoji switch key, go to SettingsAdditional settingsKeyboard & input methodGboardPreferences and toggle Show emoji switch key.

Turning this on replaces the language switch key with an emoji icon, giving you one-tap access to emojis while typing. Turning it off restores the language switch key for devices using multiple input languages.

If you enable the emoji switch key and still need to change the typing language, hold down the spacebar. This gesture opens the language switcher even when the visible key is set to emojis, so you do not lose access to multilingual typing.

This setting is worth adjusting if you type mostly in one language and use emojis often, or the other way around if you regularly switch between two or more keyboard languages.

Press and hold the spacebar. This opens the language switcher regardless of whether Show emoji switch key is enabled in GboardPreferences.
