Realme: Show or Hide Emojis in the Symbols Keyboard

If recent and favorite emojis stop showing up on the symbols keyboard after you switch away from letters, quick access to your most-used emojis breaks down mid-conversation. This behavior is controlled by a Gboard preference that only works when the suggestion strip above the keyboard is already turned on. Skip that requirement and the toggle stays inactive no matter how many times you flip it.

Show or Hide Emojis in the Symbols Keyboard auf Realme

The symbols keyboard on Realme phones can show a strip of recent and favorite emojis right above the number and symbol keys. This saves you from switching back to the emoji tab every time you want to reuse a smiley you just typed. The feature depends on a Gboard preference and on the suggestion strip being active, since the emoji row uses the same space as text suggestions.

If the suggestion strip is disabled, the toggle for emojis in the symbols keyboard has nothing to render into and appears to do nothing. Enable the suggestion strip first, then adjust the emoji setting.

To change the setting, follow this path:

Tap on SettingsTap on Additional settingsTap on Keyboard & input methodTap on GboardTap on PreferencesEnable or disable Show emojis in symbols keyboard

Turning the option off frees up a bit of vertical space on the symbols keyboard but removes the quick-access emoji row. Turning it on brings back fast reuse of recent and favorite emojis while typing.

Frequently asked questions

Check that the suggestion strip is active. The emoji row inside the symbols keyboard only renders when Preferences also has the suggestion strip switched on; without it, the emoji toggle has no visible effect.
