Realme: Turn Emergency Location Service On or Off

Realme phones can send your exact location the moment you dial an emergency number, even if you never touched a location setting yourself. Emergency Location Service (ELS) runs independently from Google location controls, so switching those off does not stop it. If you want to decide for yourself whether your position goes out during an emergency call, ELS itself needs to be adjusted.

Turn On/Off Emergency Location Service auf Realme

Emergency Location Service (ELS) on Realme phones is a separate system from the regular location toggles you find under Google settings. It exists so that emergency responders can get a short, accurate location fix the moment you dial an emergency number, even if location access for apps and Google services is fully disabled.

This is why disabling location everywhere else on the phone does not stop ELS. The feature checks for an active emergency call and briefly turns on positioning just to send that one location report, then returns to your previous settings. It does not track you continuously and only activates during an actual emergency call.

Where to find the ELS toggle

Open SettingsLocationEmergency Location ServiceSend ELS Location and switch it on or off. Turning it off means an emergency call will not trigger an automatic location report from your device.

When to leave it enabled

Leaving ELS active is generally the safer choice, since it only shares data during a genuine emergency call and can speed up help reaching you. Disabling it makes sense mainly if local regulations do not require it or if you have a separate reason to keep location fully off at all times, including emergencies.

Note that carriers and emergency services in some regions rely on ELS-style data regardless of this setting, so turning it off on the phone does not guarantee your location stays hidden during an emergency call.

Frequently asked questions

No. ELS is a separate function from Google location services. Even with every Google location toggle switched off, ELS can still activate briefly during an emergency call unless you disable it directly under SettingsLocationEmergency Location Service.
