Realme: Turn Notification Badges On or Off for Apps

If an app icon on your Realme home screen keeps showing a small dot even after you have read every message, or an app you care about never shows one at all, the badge setting for that specific app controls this. Some apps let you pick between a dot or a number, others only support a simple on or off switch.

Turn On/Off App Notification Badges auf Realme

Realme UI manages notification badges separately from notification sounds and pop-ups. An app can send you a push notification without ever showing a dot, or show a dot for background activity even when notifications are muted. This is why turning off notifications for an app does not automatically remove its badge, and the two settings often need to be adjusted on their own.

To change this, open SettingsNotifications & status barManage notifications, then tap the app you want to adjust. On that app's page, tap Badge and choose Dot to show the indicator or Do not show to hide it. Some apps offer a number badge instead of a dot, depending on how that app reports unread counts to the system.

If a badge still appears after you switch it off, check whether the app has its own in-app badge option, since some apps override the system preference. Turning off a badge does not stop notifications from arriving, it only hides the dot on the home screen icon. To stop notifications completely, disable them on the same app's page instead of just its badge.

Frequently asked questions

Some apps track unread counts on their own and do not clear the badge just because you opened the notification. Check the app's own settings for a clear badge option, or reopen the app fully instead of only swiping the notification away.
