Realme: Change Notification Badge Style on the App Icon

If an app icon keeps showing a dot or number even after you have read every message, or you would rather see no badge at all, the badge style is set per app on Realme phones. You can choose between a number, a dot, both, or nothing, but most people never touch this setting and end up stuck with whatever was set by default.

Turn On/Off Notification Badges auf Realme

Notification badges are the small dot or number shown on top of an app icon after a missed call, unread message, or other alert. Realme UI manages this indicator through app-level notification settings, separate from the notification itself. If an app still shows a badge after you have opened everything, or you want to hide the badge for an app you check manually, you need to change the badge style for that specific app.

Open SettingsNotifications & status barManage notifications, then tap the app you want to adjust. Select Badge and pick one of the four options: Number or dot shows a number when the app reports one and falls back to a dot otherwise, Number always shows the exact unread count, Dot shows only a small mark without any count, and Do not show removes the badge for that app completely.

This setting only changes the icon badge, not whether the app can send notifications at all. Turning off the badge does not silence sounds or hide lock screen alerts; use the app notification toggle for that. Choose Number for apps like messaging or mail where the count matters, and Do not show for apps that notify you constantly but you still want to keep enabled.

Frequently asked questions

Some apps sync their badge count separately from the notification panel. Force-close and reopen the app to refresh it, and check the app's own in-app notification settings if the badge keeps sticking.
