Realme: Turn On USB Tethering

If your laptop or PC will not connect to the internet after plugging in the USB cable, USB tethering on your Realme phone is probably switched off. Unlike Bluetooth tethering, USB tethering barely drains the battery, but it only works while the cable stays connected. A loose cable or a device that is not recognized as a USB connection can also stop the shared connection from working.

Enable USB Tethering auf Realme

USB tethering shares the mobile data connection of your Realme phone with a connected PC or laptop through the USB cable. Compared to Bluetooth tethering, it uses less battery, because the transfer runs over the wired connection instead of a wireless radio link.

The feature only stays active while the USB cable is plugged in and the connected device is recognized. If the laptop shows no internet access despite an active data connection on the phone, USB tethering is usually still switched off in the system settings, or the cable connection was interrupted briefly.

Turn on USB tethering

Open Tap on SettingsTap on Connection & sharingEnable or disable USB tethering on your Realme phone. Connect the phone to your PC or laptop with a USB data cable first, otherwise the option stays greyed out.

Once enabled, the connected computer picks up the phones mobile data as its network connection. Turn the toggle off again once you are done, since an active USB tethering connection keeps mobile data running in the background.

If the toggle will not switch on, check whether the USB cable is a data cable and not a charging-only cable, and confirm mobile data is active on the phone itself.

Frequently asked questions

Check that mobile data is active on the phone under SettingsSIM & network. Without an active mobile data connection, USB tethering has nothing to share, even if the toggle in Connection & sharing is switched on.
