Realme: Turn Screen Wake-Up for Notifications On or Off

If your Realme phone stays dark when a message or call comes in, you have to unlock it manually just to see what happened. The screen wake-up for notifications, part of the Notification & status bar settings, decides whether the display lights up automatically for incoming alerts. Some people run into the opposite problem: the screen keeps waking up at night and draining battery.

Turn Screen Wake-Up for Notifications On or Off auf Realme

On Realme phones running Realme UI, the display does not always turn on automatically when a notification arrives. This behavior is controlled by a dedicated toggle called Wake screen when a notification is received, tucked inside the notification settings rather than the main display menu.

When the toggle is off, incoming alerts only show as a small icon in the status bar, plus sound or vibration, and you need to press the power button to see the message. When it's on, compatible apps can briefly wake the screen so you see the notification content without unlocking the phone first.

To change it, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Notifications & status barTap on Manage notificationsTap on MoreEnable or disable Wake screen when a notification is received.

Turning the feature on helps if you rely on visual confirmation for messaging apps, but it also uses slightly more battery and can be distracting at night. If the real complaint is a single app waking the screen too often, check that app's own notification settings before disabling the global toggle. Battery optimization rules for individual apps can also block wake-ups even when this switch stays enabled.

Frequently asked questions

Individual apps can be restricted by battery optimization or background activity limits. Check that app's notification permissions separately from the global Wake screen when a notification is received setting.
