Vibration settings on Realme devices control the haptic feedback your phone produces for incoming calls, messages, app notifications and touch interactions. Realme UI, built on Android, groups most of these options under Sounds and vibration, but several related toggles also live inside Focus mode, Do Not Disturb and individual app notification settings.
The core idea is that vibration is not a single switch. Your phone treats call vibration, notification vibration and touch feedback as separate signals, each with its own intensity and, in some cases, its own pattern. This separation matters because a strong vibration for incoming calls can be useful in a pocket or bag, while the same intensity for every chat notification quickly becomes annoying.
What you can actually control
Realme UI typically offers an intensity slider that governs how strong the vibration motor pulses, independent from the ringtone volume. Some models also include a small set of vibration patterns for calls, letting you distinguish a ringing phone by feel alone, without looking at the screen.
Touch vibration is a separate category. It fires when you tap the keyboard, use the fingerprint sensor or interact with certain system gestures. Turning this off does not affect notification or call vibration, and vice versa.
How vibration behaves in silent and Focus modes
When you mute your phone or switch it to silent, calls and notifications lose their sound but can still vibrate, depending on a dedicated toggle for vibration in silent mode. This is the setting most people actually want when they say they need their phone to still notice an incoming call in a meeting.
Focus mode and Do Not Disturb add another layer. These modes are designed to suppress most alerts, but they usually allow exceptions for starred contacts or repeated calls. Vibration for those exceptions can be configured separately from the general vibration behavior, so a call from a priority contact can still buzz through while everything else stays silent.
Why some apps ignore your system vibration settings
Individual apps can define their own notification channels with a custom vibration pattern that bypasses the general system pattern, even though the system intensity slider still applies to them. This is why a messaging app might vibrate differently from your default SMS app, even with identical system settings.
If an app vibrates when it should not, the fix is usually inside that app's own notification channel settings rather than the global vibration menu.
Accessibility and battery considerations
Strong, distinct vibration patterns are also an accessibility tool for users who are hard of hearing or who keep their phone in a noisy environment. On the other hand, the vibration motor draws noticeably more power than a simple tone, so devices with frequent notifications and vibration enabled for everything will see a measurable impact on battery life over a full day.
A practical approach is to keep strong vibration reserved for calls and priority contacts, and to rely on lighter or silent notification behavior for low-priority apps.
