Realme: Wake Google Assistant with the Power Button

Holding the Power button on your Realme phone should launch Google Assistant almost instantly, but if the shortcut stays off in the background, nothing happens no matter how long you press. Some users also worry that this gesture interferes with the regular power off menu. The two actions actually rely on different hold times, and mixing them up is usually what causes the confusion.

Wake Google Assistant with the Power Button auf Realme

The Power button on your Realme phone can launch Google Assistant directly, without unlocking the screen or opening any app first. This shortcut lives inside the Convenience tools section of the system settings and works separately from the regular power menu.

When the toggle is switched off, a short press only does what the button normally does. When it's on, holding the Power button for about half a second wakes Assistant right away, while a longer hold of roughly three seconds still opens the standard power off menu with restart and shutdown options. These two hold times don't overlap, so the shortcut and the power menu keep working independently of each other.

To enable or disable the shortcut, open SettingsConvenience tools and switch Wake Google Assistant with Power button on or off.

If nothing happens after turning the toggle on, restart the phone once and make sure Google Assistant itself is already set up and signed in. The Power button shortcut only wakes an existing Assistant session; it does not configure Assistant on its own. A case or screen protector sitting too close to the button can also delay or block the press from registering correctly.

Frequently asked questions

About half a second is enough. Holding the button longer, around three seconds, opens the power off menu instead of Assistant.
