The Samsung Calendar app opens in month view by default, even if you prefer to track events by day or week. Switching to a different layout is done through a menu option that is easy to overlook the first time you look for it.
Restore Secure Folder Backup
If you set up a Secure Folder backup before resetting or switching your Samsung phone, the saved apps and files do not come back automatically. Samsung keeps that backup in the cloud, and you choose exactly which items to bring over instead of pulling the whole archive onto the device. You can also give the group its own ringtone to spot incoming calls immediately.
Turn Silent Mode On or Off
If your Samsung phone still vibrates or plays sounds after you think you muted it, you might be mixing up Silent mode with Do Not Disturb or Mute all sounds. Each of these three functions behaves differently, and picking the wrong one leads to missed calls or unwanted noise at the wrong moment. Block or Unblock a Contact

Block Backward Redirections in Samsung Internet
Tapping Back in the Samsung Internet browser sometimes lands you on a contest page, survey, or ad site you never opened yourself. That happens when a page hijacks your browser history and forces a redirect the moment you try to leave it. A dedicated privacy setting stops sites from rewriting your Back button behavior like this.
Restart Device
If your phone feels sluggish, apps stay open in the background, or a connection stops responding, a restart usually fixes it in seconds. Restarting closes every background app and clears part of the system cache without touching your files. You can trigger it from the quick panel in the status bar or with a simple button combination.
Turn Emoji Suggestions On or Off
If your Samsung keyboard keeps swapping words for emoji while you type, the built-in suggestion feature is working overtime. Samsung Keyboard scans what you write and offers a matching emoji you can drop in with a tap, right next to the usual word predictions. If that behavior gets in your way, you can turn it off without losing normal word suggestions.
Show or Hide Charging Info on Always On Display
When you plug in a Samsung phone, the Always On Display can overlay the charge percentage and estimated time to full right on the lock screen. Some people rely on this glance-and-go info, others find it distracting or want it gone for a cleaner look. Either way, the option sits in a display setting most people never touch.
Turn Game Launcher On or Off
If your installed games sit scattered across the home screen and app drawer instead of being grouped in one place, Game Launcher is probably switched off. Turning it on also starts tracking your play time and unlocks Game Booster tools for blocking notifications while you play. Some people switch it back off when the extra overlay or usage tracking gets in the way during normal app use.
App Icon Badges: Enable or Disable per App
If your home screen keeps showing a red notification dot on apps you barely open, while a messaging app you actually check stays silent, the global App icon badges switch is not doing the job. Samsung lets you control badges for each app separately, but many people only ever touch the main toggle. Without checking the individual app settings, badges end up either everywhere or nowhere.
Delete a Calendar Event
Cancelled appointments and outdated entries stay visible in the Samsung Calendar until you remove them manually. Old events pile up in the daily view and make it harder to spot what is actually still coming up. Deleting a single entry does not affect any other appointments stored in the calendar.
Auto Optimize Settings for Battery Saving
If your Samsung phone still feels warm or the battery keeps dropping overnight even though you barely touched it, background tasks and unused settings are probably staying active the whole time. The Optimise settings feature is meant to clean this up automatically around midnight, but only when it's switched on. Left off, your device keeps every setting running at full power whether you're using the phone or it's sitting untouched on the nightstand.
Turn Bixby Launch on the Side Key On or Off
Long-pressing the power button used to switch off your Samsung phone, but on newer devices the same press launches Bixby instead. Samsung renamed the power button to a Side key and moved its behavior into a separate menu. If you keep triggering Bixby by accident while trying to turn the phone off, the Side key settings are where the conflict actually sits.
Share Internet via Bluetooth Tethering
If a paired Bluetooth device cannot get online through your Samsung phone, Bluetooth tethering is likely still switched off. Pairing alone does not grant internet access - you need to enable that separately for the connected device. Without this step the connection stays limited to file transfer and audio, with no data passthrough.
Change Alarm Volume
If your alarm sounds too quiet or too loud, the fix is not in your general sound settings. On Samsung phones, alarm volume is controlled separately for each alarm inside the Clock app, not through the main volume slider. Without knowing this, many people assume the alarm volume is stuck at one level.
Add a Keyboard Language
Your Samsung keyboard only offers the system language by default, so a German-language phone types German everywhere, even in messages you want to write in English or another language. Switching between alphabets or typing foreign words forces constant autocorrect fights. The fix sits in the Samsung Keyboard settings, but the option to add extra input languages is buried several menus deep and easy to miss.
Rearrange Quick Settings
Only five Quick settings toggles show up when you swipe down once, and the ones you actually need are not always among them. If Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or Flashlight keep ending up out of reach, the toggle order in the notification panel needs a manual reset. The Quick settings editor lets you fix that without touching any deeper system menu.
Change Wallpaper on Lock Screen
Your lock screen still shows the same picture as your home screen even though you picked a new photo? Samsung phones let you set the lock screen wallpaper separately from the home screen, and you can even queue up several images so a new one appears every time you wake the display. Missing that separate step is the usual reason the lock screen never updates.
Allow or Block Messages in Do Not Disturb
When Do Not Disturb is on, your Samsung phone hides every incoming SMS and MMS by default, even from close contacts. If you need certain texts to get through during quiet hours, the message exception list controls exactly who can reach you.
Turn On/Off Recycle Bin in Gallery
Deleted a photo or video by mistake and worried it is gone for good? On Samsung phones, the Gallery app can hold deleted files in a Trash folder before removing them permanently. If that safety net is switched off, one accidental swipe or tap on Delete removes the file immediately with no way back.
