Keyboard Language Switching Method
If swiping the space bar keeps switching your keyboard language mid-sentence, or the dedicated language key seems to do nothing, the Samsung Keyboard is set to a switching method that does not match how you type. Samsung gives you three separate ways to jump between installed languages, and the wrong one causes accidental switches or a key that appears broken. Picking the right method stops the keyboard from changing language on its own while you are writing.
Add Members to a Contact Group
Adding a new contact to an existing group is not obvious in Samsung Contacts, since the group screen looks read-only until you switch into edit mode. Miss that step and the new contact stays outside the group, so it never receives group messages or shows up for group calls. This mainly trips people up when they add contacts after a group already exists.
Set a Custom Image on Always On Display

When several devices crowd the same Wi-Fi channel, your Samsung hotspot connection can slow down noticeably. Switching the mobile hotspot band lets you pick a less congested frequency, but the option disappears if Wi-Fi sharing is turned on.
Number Row on Samsung Keyboard
If your Samsung keyboard suddenly shows a full row of digits above the letters, or that row is missing and you have to tap and hold a letter until a popup with the number appears, the number row layout has been switched. This setting decides whether typing numbers takes one tap or a tap-and-hold, and it changes how much space the keyboard takes up on screen.
Add an App to Do Not Disturb Exceptions
If WhatsApp calls or Facebook messages stay silent while Do Not Disturb is active, the app is not listed as an exception yet. Samsung mutes every notification by default once the mode is on, even from apps you consider urgent. Adding the app to the exception list lets its alerts pass through regardless of the mode.
Turn Speak Passwords On or Off in TalkBack
TalkBack normally reads every letter you type aloud, but password fields are treated differently and stay silent by default. If you want TalkBack to announce password characters too, that behavior is hidden behind a separate switch in the TalkBack settings.
Find Apps and Files with Samsung Finder Search
Scrolling through folders on the home screen or app drawer to find one app can take longer than just typing its name. When Finder search is not your default habit, you end up swiping through pages instead of getting instant results, including files stored in your phone's memory and not only installed apps.
Enlarge the Mouse Pointer
Once you connect a mouse or touchpad to your Samsung device, the on-screen pointer often stays tiny and hard to track, especially on larger displays. This gets worse if you also use a stylus or have reduced vision, since the default pointer size was built for touch input, not precise cursor tracking.
Change Auto-lock Time

Remove Face Recognition Data

Beard changes, glasses, or a general preference for PIN unlock can make this scan outdated. Removing it disables Face Unlock until you set it up again.
Turn On/Off App Drawer

If calls from your family, work team or any other contact group sound exactly like everyone else, you cannot tell who is calling without checking the screen. Samsung lets you assign one ringtone to an entire contact group, but that tone only plays as long as the individual caller has no personal ringtone of their own.
Auto Click After Pointer Stop: Turn On/Off
Connect a mouse to a Samsung device and clicks sometimes fire on their own the moment you stop moving the pointer, or not at all when you expect them to. This behavior comes from the Auto click after pointer stops feature, which uses a delay slider instead of a normal click. Getting the timing wrong makes navigation either too twitchy or too slow.
Turn Lock Instantly with Side Key On or Off
If your Samsung locks the moment you press the side key, but the screen also re-locks itself after a short delay once you turn it back on, two separate settings are working against each other. Lock instantly with Side key forces an immediate lock on every power button press, while Lock automatically runs its own independent timer. Mixing both can make your device ask for your PIN, pattern or password far more often than you expect.
Turn On/Off Auto Spell Check
If Auto spell check only underlines a word in red instead of fixing it, the Samsung keyboard is working as intended, not broken. The feature suggests a correction you accept by continuing to type, it never rewrites text on its own. On many devices this option is switched off from the start, which is why typos stay unmarked until you enable it.
Block Pop-ups Automatically in the Browser
Pop-ups in Samsung Internet stay blocked by default, so login windows, download links or ad overlays that rely on a new window never appear. Some sites still need that pop-up to load a form or a payment step. On a Samsung phone a pop-up opens as a new tab instead of a separate window like it does on a desktop browser.
Disable Automatic Hotspot 2.0 Wi-Fi Connection
If your Samsung phone keeps joining unfamiliar Wi-Fi networks in cafes, airports or train stations without asking, Hotspot 2.0 is doing its job in the background. The feature links you to certified public networks automatically, which can drain data or battery on networks you never chose yourself. You can switch this automatic behavior off in the Wi-Fi settings.
Pin a Conversation to the Top of Messages
When you text a lot of people, your most important chats can get buried fast because the Messages app sorts everything by time, newest on top. If a key contact keeps sliding down the list every time someone else texts you, there is no quick way to jump straight to that conversation. Samsung lets you fix this by marking a chat as a favorite so it always stays visible.
Lock or Unlock Home Screen Layout
If apps and widgets keep shifting position on your Samsung home screen, or a new app suddenly lands in the wrong spot, the layout is probably unlocked. This lets the system rearrange icons automatically and lets accidental long-presses move things around. Locking the layout stops both issues at once.
Set Up Fingerprint Unlock
If your Samsung phone only wakes up with a pattern, PIN, or password, the fingerprint sensor sits unused even though it can unlock the device just as reliably. This usually happens because Fingerprints was never switched on in the lock screen settings, even after a fingerprint got registered. Without exporting first, you are left copying numbers one by one. Samsung phones can bundle everything into a single vCard file that other devices, apps and services can read.
Set Up Smart Lock
If your Samsung phone still asks for a PIN at home, in the car, or when it is paired with your smartwatch, Smart Lock is probably switched off. This Android feature keeps the device unlocked when it detects a trusted place, a trusted Bluetooth device, or that you are carrying it. Without it enabled, you fall back to manual unlocking every single time, even in low-risk situations.
