Rename a Fingerprint
When you add several fingerprints on your Samsung phone, they all get generic labels like Fingerprint 1 or Fingerprint 2. If more than one person unlocks the same device, it gets confusing to tell whose print is stored where.
Turn On/Off Palm Swipe to Capture
If swiping the edge of your hand across the screen does not trigger a screenshot, or if it fires by accident while you grip the phone, the Palm swipe to capture gesture is set the wrong way. This motion feature sits in the gesture settings and can be missed easily since it is off by default on some devices.
Show or Hide Date and Location in Gallery Photos
If the photo details in the Gallery only show file size and resolution, but never a place name, geotagging was probably switched off when the shot was taken. The date and location overlay only works retroactively for pictures that already carry that metadata.
Turn Call Waiting On or Off
If a knocking tone interrupts your calls out of nowhere, or you never notice a second caller trying to reach you, Call waiting is probably set the way you don't want. This Samsung feature decides whether an incoming call during an active conversation gets signaled to you or blocked outright. Getting the setting wrong means either missed calls or unwanted interruptions mid-conversation.
Set Time Manually
If your Samsung phone shows the wrong time even though it pulls it from the mobile network, a weak signal or a carrier sync issue is usually behind it. This throws off scheduled alarms, calendar entries and app timestamps until the automatic date and time source is disabled. Once that toggle is off, you can enter the correct time yourself.
Turn Navigation Gesture Vibrations On or Off
Every tap on the navigation bar buttons triggers a short buzz on your Samsung phone, and that constant vibration gets annoying fast if you swipe through apps often. The feedback comes from a separate haptic setting for navigation gestures, not the general vibration toggle, so switching off standard notification vibration does not stop it. You need the dedicated system control instead.
Change Google Backup Account
If Samsung keeps backing up your data to the wrong Google Account, your photos, contacts and app settings end up in a profile you barely use. This usually happens when a second Google Account gets added to the phone after the first backup was already set up. Samsung sticks with the account chosen during initial setup until you switch it manually in the backup settings.
Turn Notification Reminders On or Off
By default your Samsung phone only announces a new notification once, with a tone or vibration depending on the sound mode. If you tend to miss messages because you were busy or the screen was off, a single alert is not enough. Notification reminders let the device nudge you again at a set interval until you actually open the notification.
Save a Web Page as PDF
Recipes, route planners or a step-by-step guide often disappear once you close the tab, lose signal or the page gets updated. Bookmarking only keeps a link, and the offline saving option in the Samsung Internet browser does not always preserve the layout. Exporting the page as a PDF keeps the text, images and formatting stored directly on your phone.
Turn Adaptive Power Saving On or Off
If apps you rarely open stop sending notifications or refuse to sync in the background, Adaptive power saving is likely throttling them without asking you first. This automation tracks how often you use each app and quietly cuts background access to the ones it decides you barely need. Turning it off hands manual control back to you for every app's power behavior.
Reset App Preferences
If a link keeps opening in the wrong app, notifications stay silent, or a permission you never touched suddenly blocks a feature, one of your apps might have leftover setting changes piling up. Instead of checking every app individually, Samsung lets you roll all app preferences back to default in one step. This does not remove any app data, so accounts, files, and photos stay untouched.
Turn Google Drive Backup On or Off
If your Samsung phone seems to back up the same data twice, Google Drive backup might be running alongside Samsung Cloud without you noticing. This can quietly eat into your Google storage or leave you unsure which backup actually holds your latest photos and app data. Knowing where this toggle sits helps you decide which backup system to rely on.
Turn Autofill Service On or Off
If your phone keeps filling in the wrong username, an old address, or a password you no longer use, the Autofill service is likely set to a provider you did not choose. On Samsung phones this function can pull data from Google, from Samsung Pass, or be switched off completely, and mixing providers often causes those wrong entries or missing suggestions in login and shipping forms.
Delete a Contact Group
If a contact group on your Samsung phone has outlived its purpose, it stays listed in your Contacts app until you remove it manually. You can delete just the group label or wipe the group together with every stored member. One group, Emergency contacts, cannot be removed this way.
Turn On/Off Auto HDR
Bright skies turn white and shadows go black in the same shot on your Samsung phone. That washed-out look usually means Auto HDR is switched off, so the camera cannot merge multiple exposures into one balanced photo. High-contrast scenes like backlit portraits or landscapes with strong sun suffer most from this.
Add a Wi-Fi Network Manually
If your router does not appear in the Wi-Fi list, it usually means the network is hidden and not broadcasting its name. In that case you have to add it by hand using the exact SSID and, if the network is secured, the correct password. A typo in either field is the most common reason the connection still fails afterward.
Smart Anti-Tracking: Turn On or Off
Closing Secret mode does not stop every site from tracking you across sessions. Cookies and browsing traces from the regular Internet app can still build a profile of you, even after you clear history manually. Smart anti-tracking works independently of Secret mode and can clean this up automatically.
Turn On/Off Bedtime Mode
If your Samsung phone suddenly switches to grayscale and notifications stop coming through at night, Bedtime mode is likely active. Held-back alerts only appear once the scheduled period ends, which can make it look like your phone stopped receiving messages entirely. This differs from Do Not Disturb, since Bedtime mode also dims the display and can run on a fixed schedule.
Add Trusted Devices for Smart Lock
If your Samsung phone still asks for a PIN every time you get in the car or plug in your headphones, Smart Lock is not recognizing your Bluetooth accessory as trusted yet. Without a registered device, the phone falls back to full lock screen security even when it is clearly connected to something you use daily. Adding the right accessory as a trusted device lets the phone skip the lock screen automatically while that connection is active.
Back Up Data to Samsung Cloud
A phone that gets lost, stolen or bricked takes any local backup with it. If contacts, photos or app data only exist on the device itself, a factory reset or hardware failure wipes them for good. Backing them up to your Samsung account keeps a copy safe outside the phone.
Keyboard Touch and Hold Delay
If long-pressing a key on your Samsung keyboard keeps popping up accent marks or symbols by accident while you type normally, the touch and hold delay is set too short for your typing speed. The opposite problem also happens: if you have to hold a key noticeably long before the alternate character menu shows up, the delay feels too slow for quick access to accents and special signs. Samsung lets you shorten or lengthen this response time instead of living with either annoyance.
Show or Hide Secure Folder Notification Content
When an app inside Secure Folder sends a notification, Samsung hides the actual content by default, both on the lock screen and in the notification panel. You only see that something arrived, not what it says, which gets confusing when you rely on message previews. This behavior comes from a separate privacy setting inside Secure Folder, independent of your normal notification content settings.
Adjust Display Brightness
If your Samsung screen stays too dim or too bright no matter the lighting, the brightness slider might be locked to Adaptive brightness instead of manual control. This drains the battery faster and makes reading outdoors or at night harder than it needs to be. Switching to manual brightness gives you direct control over how much power the display uses.
Ignore Repeated Touches: Turn On or Off
If a single tap on your Samsung device sometimes registers as two or three taps, or a light touch triggers extra input, the screen may be reacting to accidental double contact. The Ignore repeated touches feature controls how long the display waits before accepting another tap after the first one. Adjusting it helps if you have shaky hands, a cracked screen, or a case that causes phantom touches.
