Delete a Contact Group
If a contact group on your Samsung phone has outlived its purpose, it stays listed in your Contacts app until you remove it manually. You can delete just the group label or wipe the group together with every stored member. One group, Emergency contacts, cannot be removed this way.
Turn On/Off Auto HDR
Bright skies turn white and shadows go black in the same shot on your Samsung phone. That washed-out look usually means Auto HDR is switched off, so the camera cannot merge multiple exposures into one balanced photo. High-contrast scenes like backlit portraits or landscapes with strong sun suffer most from this.
Add a Wi-Fi Network Manually
If your router does not appear in the Wi-Fi list, it usually means the network is hidden and not broadcasting its name. In that case you have to add it by hand using the exact SSID and, if the network is secured, the correct password. A typo in either field is the most common reason the connection still fails afterward.
Smart Anti-Tracking: Turn On or Off
Closing Secret mode does not stop every site from tracking you across sessions. Cookies and browsing traces from the regular Internet app can still build a profile of you, even after you clear history manually. Smart anti-tracking works independently of Secret mode and can clean this up automatically.
Turn On/Off Bedtime Mode
If your Samsung phone suddenly switches to grayscale and notifications stop coming through at night, Bedtime mode is likely active. Held-back alerts only appear once the scheduled period ends, which can make it look like your phone stopped receiving messages entirely. This differs from Do Not Disturb, since Bedtime mode also dims the display and can run on a fixed schedule.
Show or Hide Public Holidays in Calendar
If public holidays keep showing up in your Samsung Calendar even though you never added them, they are pulled in automatically from a signed-in Google Account. Which country's holidays appear depends on the region or language set in your system preferences, not on the calendar app itself. Turning them off means adjusting the display settings for that specific account, not deleting entries one by one.
Add Trusted Devices for Smart Lock
If your Samsung phone still asks for a PIN every time you get in the car or plug in your headphones, Smart Lock is not recognizing your Bluetooth accessory as trusted yet. Without a registered device, the phone falls back to full lock screen security even when it is clearly connected to something you use daily. Adding the right accessory as a trusted device lets the phone skip the lock screen automatically while that connection is active.
Back Up Data to Samsung Cloud
A phone that gets lost, stolen or bricked takes any local backup with it. If contacts, photos or app data only exist on the device itself, a factory reset or hardware failure wipes them for good. Backing them up to your Samsung account keeps a copy safe outside the phone.
Keyboard Touch and Hold Delay
If long-pressing a key on your Samsung keyboard keeps popping up accent marks or symbols by accident while you type normally, the touch and hold delay is set too short for your typing speed. The opposite problem also happens: if you have to hold a key noticeably long before the alternate character menu shows up, the delay feels too slow for quick access to accents and special signs. Samsung lets you shorten or lengthen this response time instead of living with either annoyance.
Show or Hide Secure Folder Notification Content
When an app inside Secure Folder sends a notification, Samsung hides the actual content by default, both on the lock screen and in the notification panel. You only see that something arrived, not what it says, which gets confusing when you rely on message previews. This behavior comes from a separate privacy setting inside Secure Folder, independent of your normal notification content settings.
Allow or Restrict Background Activity of Apps
If your Samsung phone loses battery fast even when you barely touch certain apps, background activity is often the reason. Some apps keep syncing, refreshing content or checking location while you are not using them, which quietly drains the battery between charges. You can turn this off for individual apps without disabling their notifications completely.
Adjust Display Brightness
If your Samsung screen stays too dim or too bright no matter the lighting, the brightness slider might be locked to Adaptive brightness instead of manual control. This drains the battery faster and makes reading outdoors or at night harder than it needs to be. Switching to manual brightness gives you direct control over how much power the display uses.
Show or Hide Notifications on Always On Display
If your Always On Display keeps showing notification icons you would rather keep off the lock screen, that is the default Notifications behavior on Samsung phones. These icons only signal that a message arrived and never reveal sender or content, even when the setting stays on. Turning it off removes the icons from the always-on screen completely.
Ignore Repeated Touches: Turn On or Off
If a single tap on your Samsung device sometimes registers as two or three taps, or a light touch triggers extra input, the screen may be reacting to accidental double contact. The Ignore repeated touches feature controls how long the display waits before accepting another tap after the first one. Adjusting it helps if you have shaky hands, a cracked screen, or a case that causes phantom touches.
Add an Account to Calendar
If your appointments, birthdays or tasks from Google or Exchange are missing in the Calendar app, the account simply has not been linked yet. Samsung Calendar only shows data that is stored on your phone or connected through a synced account, so an unlinked account leaves whole calendars empty.
Edge Lighting Display Timing
Edge lighting fires for every notification, whether you are actively looking at the screen or the phone is locked in your pocket. If the glow feels excessive or you barely notice it, the timing setting decides whether it shows during active use, only when the display is off, or in both cases.
Schedule Dark Mode
If Dark Mode stays on well past sunrise or never switches off before you go to bed, the automatic schedule on your Samsung phone probably is not set up yet. Samsung lets you tie Dark Mode to sunset and sunrise or to a fixed time you choose, but this option sits switched off by default, so most people end up toggling the display mode by hand every day.
Turn USB Tethering On or Off
If your laptop or PC does not pick up an internet connection after you plug in your Samsung phone, USB tethering is probably still switched off. This feature routes your mobile data through the USB cable instead of Wi-Fi, which helps when public Wi-Fi is blocked, slow, or unavailable. Without the toggle enabled, the computer detects the cable but never actually goes online.
Change Notification Vibration Pattern
If every app buzzes your phone the same way, you cannot tell a message from a calendar reminder without checking the screen. Samsung phones let you pick a distinct vibration pattern just for notifications, separate from the one used for calls. A few built-in patterns are available, but the option is easy to miss since it sits away from the main sound settings.
Group Albums into Folders
When your Gallery fills up with dozens of separate albums, finding a specific event takes longer every time you open the app. Samsung lets you nest related albums inside one main album, so yearly or category folders stay bundled instead of cluttering the overview. This grouping option is easy to miss because it works through drag-and-drop instead of a settings menu.
Change Font Style
If every menu, notification, and app on your Galaxy phone still shows the same default typeface, the system font hasn't been changed yet. Samsung ships built-in alternatives like 'SamsungOne' and 'Gothic Bold', and the Galaxy Store offers more fonts to download or buy. Until you adjust this setting in Display, the interface keeps the factory look everywhere.
Create a Custom Photo Album
New photos and videos land automatically in fixed albums like Camera or Downloads, depending on which app saved them. If you want to keep certain pictures together instead - for a trip, a project, or a specific person - the built-in sorting will not do that for you. Gallery lets you set up a separate album and move or copy pictures into it manually.
Unmount SD Card Safely
Pulling the memory card out of your Samsung phone while it is still active can corrupt files or wipe data that has not finished syncing. The system needs to release the card first, otherwise apps that store data on it may crash or lose access. A software glitch on the phone can also block the card from unmounting cleanly, leaving you unsure if removal is safe.
Answer Calls Automatically
When your Samsung phone is paired with a Bluetooth headset, car kit, or hands-free device, incoming calls should connect the instant you accept them through the accessory. If Answer automatically stays off, you still have to tap the screen manually, which is awkward while driving or wearing a wired headset. The same setting also controls how many seconds pass before the call picks up on its own.
