Block Pop-ups Automatically in the Browser
Pop-ups in Samsung Internet stay blocked by default, so login windows, download links or ad overlays that rely on a new window never appear. Some sites still need that pop-up to load a form or a payment step. On a Samsung phone a pop-up opens as a new tab instead of a separate window like it does on a desktop browser.
Turn Screen Lock/Unlock Sound On or Off
Every time you lock or wake your Samsung phone, a short click or chime plays even though you never set a custom ringtone for it. That sound comes from the general system sound controls, not from notifications, and most people only find a plain on/off switch with no way to pick a different tone.
Set Default SIM for Text Messages

Lock instantly with Side key forces an immediate lock on every power button press, while Lock automatically runs its own independent timer. Mixing both can make your device ask for your PIN, pattern or password far more often than you expect.
Reset Samsung Keyboard Settings
If autocorrect keeps guessing wrong or the layout feels off after too much tinkering, a few changes buried in the Samsung Keyboard settings are usually the cause. Personal word predictions and custom shortcuts pile up over time and can throw off typing accuracy. Resetting the keyboard settings restores the original defaults and clears saved predictions.
Switch Between 12-Hour and 24-Hour Time Format
Samsung phones show the clock in 24-hour format out of the box, which throws off anyone used to reading AM and PM. If your lock screen, status bar, and alarms all display times like 14:30 instead of 2:30 PM, the format toggle in your date and time settings is responsible. Switching it affects the whole system, including notifications and the calendar.
Remove a Theme
Unused designs from the Galaxy Store keep taking up storage even when you never open them again. Some themes only need a few MB, but several installed at once add up fast on devices with limited space. Removing the ones you no longer use frees up memory without losing access to them for good.
Add a Photo to a Contact
If a contact still shows only the first letter of the name or one of the animated default images that come with your Samsung device, calls and messages look generic instead of personal. This happens because no custom photo has been assigned to that contact yet. Swapping in your own picture makes the caller instantly recognizable on the call screen and in Messages.
Disable Automatic Hotspot 2.0 Wi-Fi Connection
If your Samsung phone keeps joining unfamiliar Wi-Fi networks in cafes, airports or train stations without asking, Hotspot 2.0 is doing its job in the background. The feature links you to certified public networks automatically, which can drain data or battery on networks you never chose yourself. You can switch this automatic behavior off in the Wi-Fi settings.
Pin a Conversation to the Top of Messages
When you text a lot of people, your most important chats can get buried fast because the Messages app sorts everything by time, newest on top. If a key contact keeps sliding down the list every time someone else texts you, there is no quick way to jump straight to that conversation. Samsung lets you fix this by marking a chat as a favorite so it always stays visible.
Remove Biometric Data
If your Samsung phone still unlocks with an old fingerprint or a face scan that no longer feels safe, that biometric data is still sitting behind your Screen lock type setting. Switching the lock method clears every stored fingerprint and face profile at once, but it also drops your PIN, password or pattern until you set a new one. Apps that rely on Samsung Pass or biometric login will ask for a fallback method right after.
Turn On/Off Message Delivery Reports
If you send a text message and never see a confirmation that it arrived, delivery reports are probably switched off on your Samsung phone. This status, called Show when delivered, marks the exact moment the recipient's device receives your message. Carriers process this confirmation without extra charge in almost all cases.
Enable Face Recognition Unlock
Registered your face on your Samsung phone but the lock screen still asks for a PIN or pattern? Face data alone does not turn on face unlock - the feature stays off by default even after enrollment. You need to switch it on separately before it works as an unlock method.

If you swipe a pattern to unlock your Samsung phone, the line you draw stays visible on screen the whole time, which means anyone glancing over your shoulder can trace it. This visible trail is a separate setting from the pattern itself and can be switched off for more privacy. Nothing about your actual pattern shape or length changes when you hide the line.
