Samsung: Show or Hide the App Drawer Button

On Samsung phones the app list normally opens with a swipe up on the home screen, and many users miss the dedicated button from older models. If that swipe gesture feels unreliable or you simply prefer a fixed icon, a hidden home screen option lets you bring back a visible shortcut for the app list.

Show or Hide the App Drawer Button on the Home Screen auf Samsung

Samsung's One UI replaced the classic app drawer button with a swipe-up gesture on the home screen. This works well once you get used to it, but it is easy to trigger by accident or to find inconsistent, especially on custom launchers or with widgets placed near the bottom edge.

If you prefer a fixed icon instead of a gesture, One UI still lets you bring back a dedicated app list button. This setting lives in the home screen configuration, separate from general display settings, which is why many users never come across it.

Turning the button on adds a small icon to the bottom of your home screen that opens the app list with a single tap. Turning it off again removes the icon and returns control to the swipe-up gesture only. Neither option changes how apps are sorted or organized, it only changes how you open the list.

Where to find the setting

Go to Tap on SettingsTap on Home screenEnable or disable Show Apps screen button on Home screen. Toggle it on for a visible button, or off to rely on the swipe gesture again.

If your home screen feels cluttered after enabling the button, you can always reposition other icons and widgets around it, since it takes up only one slot in the layout.
