Samsung: Show or Hide the App Drawer on the Home Screen

If your Samsung Home screen only shows a handful of app icons while everything else stays tucked away behind a swipe-up gesture, the App Drawer layout is active. Some users find it faster to have every installed app sitting directly on the Home screen instead of opening a separate overview. Switching between these two layouts changes how One UI organizes and displays your apps.

Turn On/Off App Drawer auf Samsung

Samsung devices ship with a Home screen that shows only a few pinned shortcuts. Every other installed app sits in the App Drawer, which opens when you swipe up on the Home screen.

One UI lets you change this behavior so that all apps appear directly on the Home screen instead, without a separate drawer. This setting is controlled through the Home screen layout option in the system settings.

How to switch the layout

Open Tap on SettingsTap on Home screenTap on Home screen layoutChoose between Home and Apps screensor Home screen onlyTap on Apply.

Selecting Home and Apps screens keeps the classic App Drawer with a swipe gesture. Selecting Home screen only spreads every installed app across your Home screen panels instead.

If your Home screen feels cluttered after switching to Home screen only, going back to Home and Apps screens restores the drawer and gives you more room for widgets and shortcuts.

Frequently asked questions

All installed apps move out of the drawer and get placed across your Home screen panels. You may need extra panels to fit everything.
