Samsung: Enable or Disable the Assistant Menu

The Assistant menu is a Samsung accessibility feature. It replaces the physical Home, Back and Recents buttons with a floating panel that stays on top of every app and can be dragged to any edge of the screen.

The panel is meant for one-handed use or for anyone who finds the standard navigation buttons hard to reach. It supports up to 12 shortcut buttons at once, and each one can be swapped for a different action such as Screenshot, Lock screen or Notifications.

To turn it on, go to Settings ➔ Accessibility ➔ Interaction and dexterity ➔ Assistant menu. Toggle the switch to enable or disable the feature. While it is on, tap the menu entry itself to select which buttons appear and to adjust extra options like panel transparency or button size.

Turning off the Assistant menu removes the floating panel completely and restores normal use of the physical or on-screen navigation buttons. If the goal is only larger touch targets rather than a movable button panel, checking the standard Accessibility display settings is usually a better fix.

Side effect: the floating panel can partially cover app content near the edge where it rests, so it is worth dragging it to a corner that is least in the way.
