Samsung: Choose SIM Card Before Every Call

Samsung phones with two SIM slots usually route every outgoing call through one fixed SIM, so using the other line means switching your default SIM manually before dialing. That gets old fast if you split calls between a work and a personal number. The Confirm SIM card for calls option changes this by adding a quick selection step before each outgoing call.

Confirm SIM Card Before Calls auf Samsung

On a Samsung dual-SIM device, one SIM card is set as the default for outgoing calls. Every call automatically uses that SIM unless you switch the default manually before dialing, which gets tedious if you regularly split calls between two numbers.

The Confirm SIM card for calls option removes that manual step. Once enabled, the phone shows a short prompt every time you place a call, letting you tap the SIM you want to use for that specific call. This helps if you keep separate numbers for work and personal use, or want to control which plan handles a given call.

To turn it on or off, open SettingsConnectionsSIM card manager ➔ enable or disable Confirm SIM card for calls. The setting only appears when two SIM cards are inserted and active. Disabling it again returns the phone to using whichever SIM is marked as default for calls.

This function only affects voice calls, not text messages or mobile data, which have their own default SIM settings in the same menu. If the prompt does not show up after enabling it, check that both SIM slots are active and that neither line is restricted from making calls.

Frequently asked questions

The prompt only appears if two SIM cards are active in SIM card manager. If one slot is disabled or set to data-only, the option stays hidden and calls use the default SIM automatically.
