Samsung: Create a Contact Group for Calls and Messages

Sending the same text to five people one at a time gets old fast, and forwarding photos to the same circle of friends over and over wastes time. Samsung's Contacts app lets you bundle recipients into a group, so calls, texts, and emails go out to everyone at once. You can also give the group its own ringtone to spot incoming calls immediately.

Create a Contact Group auf Samsung

Repeating the same text or email to several contacts one by one is slow, and it is easy to skip someone by mistake. Samsung's Contacts app solves this with contact groups: once a group exists, you pick it as a single recipient for calls, messages, and emails.

How grouping works

A group is just a saved list of existing contacts, not a new contact type. Nothing changes for the individual entries; the group only bundles their addresses under one name and lets you set a group-wide ringtone.

To build one, open Contacts and tap the Menu icon. Choose Create group, enter a name that identifies the circle, then tap Add member. Select every contact that belongs in the group, confirm with Done, and finish with Save.

The group appears in a separate tab inside Contacts. Selecting it as a message recipient sends the text to all members at once, similar to a broadcast list, but the members will see each other in the recipient field unless you use a service that hides that automatically.

If you only need a one-off broadcast without saving a permanent list, selecting multiple single contacts manually is faster. Groups make more sense for recurring circles like family, a project team, or a sports club, especially when you also want a distinct ringtone for calls from that circle.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Open the group, choose the ringtone option in its settings and pick a sound; calls from any member will use it instead of your default ringtone.
